What To Brew In The Warmer Months?

I'm aware of this. That is why i am not partial to largers. I'm a little worried that the above mentioned styles might end up like a Becks or Grolshe which are beers i'm not fond of. I'm more of an ale kinda guy. I'm currently eyeing off a $50 fridge locally on ebay, see how that ends up.

What To Brew In The Warmer Months?

Ok so a Belgian wheatbeer it is then lol. What commercially made beer can i buy that would resemble what i am aiming for? I just want to know what i will be drinking before putting it down. Re: Tooheys kits. It was the first time i used a Tooheys kit. Being hot weather, i didn't want to stuff...

What To Brew In The Warmer Months?

Hey guys, I have been absent for a while and it's time to get some more brews down, ready for the cooler weather ahead. The last brew i put down finished in about 6 days. It was a Tooheys draught 2 can using the standard yeast and nothing else. The taste was OKish but not great. Drinkable but i...

    What Kit To Buy

You can't go past the premium Coopers range(coloured not white cans) for availability. They sell at my local Big W for $12.50 si i always have a couple in the cupboard. Mt favourite kit i have brewed so far is the Black Rock Amber Ale... i made it to the instructions(except the temps) ..added a...

Morgans Lager & Coopers Amber, Any Predictions?

I would not add another yeast personally but i'll leave that advice to the more experienced brewers. If it is not doing anything at the temps you described then i would imagine that you either killed too much of the yeast getting it started or it was and old yeast packet or possibly even not...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Drinking this one currently. It is bitter but not too much so that i cant put away multiples. My description is passion fruit aroma and full flavoured bitter like an IPA...very nice and it has had the thumbs up from all tasters. Next time though i think i would skip the IPA and use 2 cans of...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Put this one down on Friday evening and it is now WELL under way...bubbling like a you know what. Still waiting for it to exit stage air lock though? In the end i went with 25g Cascade @ 10 minutes and 10g Galaxy @ flame out boiled up with 2 litres of water along with 200g of LME. Stay tuned!

    'battle Of The Toucans'

I have been wanting to do a 2can brew lately and i figure i might use my last 2 cans before moving onto all grain brewing. Coopers IPA Black Rock Pils blonde US05 yeast Is likely to end up overly bitter? What else should i add if anything? Hops? I was thinking 40g Goldings dry hop? Your...

Hey mate! Do you have anything left? Interested in some Centennial and Saaz hops and maybe a fermenter if your willing to post? Thanks :)

    Another ''my 1st Brew" Thread

Well i have no doubt it is doing something in the fermenter as when i woke up this morning i could hear the air lock bubbling away. Speaking of the air lock. when i moved the fermenter down stairs to reduce the temps i'm pretty sure that some of the water was sucked from the air lock into the...

    Another ''my 1st Brew" Thread

Thank you for the fast feedback. From what i read, i could have left the hops on the boil for a bit longer but the smell was so strong i didnt want to risk adding too much hops. It would condition out with age anyway if i had of right? I also read that people boil there hops with a lot less...

    Another ''my 1st Brew" Thread

Hey guys and girls, I put my 1st brew down yesterday afternoon and have a couple of questions. I boiled up 2l of water along with 500g of LME. Added 10g of Williamette hops for 15 minutes and then 10g of Cascade at flame out. It started to smell very hoppy(?) and looked a bit green so thats...

    Possibility Of A Trade?

Hey guys and girls! As the title hints to, i have an excess of green coffee. I also have a lack of beer related brew stuff and i'm curious to know if anyone would want to some sort of a trade? I have around 15kg's of coffee to spare in an un-roasted form. I can roast it for you if you like or...

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

Thanks for that! I had suspicions that my taste was for hop taste and aroma. I used to like Tooheys Pils before they changed hops....don't know why they did that?!

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

I just realised it's a public holiday tomorrow so there will be no beer brewing for me till next week :( It will give me a chance to finish off my current Sake brew and have that bottled and out of the way by time i get a brew down. @ ekul ... thank you for explaining the hops thing. I now fee...

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

Yes i had expected that the hops was a little bit dear but the brew shop lady initially gave me the tea bag type which i had read was not going to give as good results. The bottle capping device i have got seems to work ok in practice runs. I assume if i was to change to kegs that they would...

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

I live in the Northern Rivers area near Ballina. So if you guys know of a local brew club up here i would be interested in meeting them? I will probably put a post in the hardware section related to a trade of ingredients. Willing to post. I have surplus coffee and i'm about to harvest in the...

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

Thank you for the feedback guys, it looks like i got enough to complete a couple of brews. I am still not completely up to date with the home brew lingo so you will have to tell me what BIAB is? Having brewed Sake, i am well aware of the importance of sanitising. In regards to the 12 long...

Home Brew Newbie ... Did I Get The Right Stuff?

Hey guys and girls! I want to start by saying this place is a wealth of information and i'm glad i found it :) I am new to the world of home brewed beer and after a short loitering period i became a registered member today. After trying a friends Coopers pale ale recently i took an interest...
