    Beverage HQ commercial keg fridge

Thanks guys but I'm not in the slightest bit interested in anything that Keg King sell. Tefcold certainly have something that looks good.

    Beverage HQ commercial keg fridge

Just wondering if anyone out there has one of these fridges: http://www.beveragehq.net/Commercial_Kegerators-Kegstar_Commercial_Kegerator_4_x_19_Litre_Kegs.html The seller is based in WA but they had a reseller in SA with one in stock, but to be honest I was a little underwhelmed on the finish...

BrownDog, Good, no pissing around approach you've taken when making this rig. Excellent job!

    Kegging Setups

Thanks Vortex...... cameras do not like focussing on wood. Normally you focus on an edge and move to take the shot but it wasn't working due to the shape. That was the best of a dozen shots.

    Kegging Setups

Here's the portakeg I made recently. It's basically a peice of 300mm stormwater pipe with a plastic base glued in. The wood on the outside is a cosmetic skin made from resawn oregan verandah posts - 27 in all, each cut to 6.7 degrees. I finished it in danish oil then 4 coats of gloss...

    Barrel Builders?

If it's just that the staves have shrunk but the hoops are still in place, fill your bath tub or wash trough with water and let the barrel soak in there for a few days. I've seen a few barrels in fairly rough condition seal up very nicely after this treatment.

    Brew Related Injuries

Chinese safety boots not what they cracked up to be? The worst I've had in over 20 all grain batches is a burnt eyebrow from lighting the gas burner.

    12 Volt Connects

Spog if you want a waterproof option you could try a Deutsch DT series or a Delphi Weatherpack connector. No special tooling required apart from some pointy nose pliers and a soldering iron. These are pretty standard automotive connectors available from places like Ashdown Ingrams. No affiliation.

    One Of 'those' Questions

You can get away with most metals on hot side stuff. You don't need to sanitise. Go ali kettle!

I recently bought a bunch of camlocs from Gryphon and it worked out a lot cheaper than my LHBS. Not the same quality but they all mate up with existing fittings. No affiliation yada yada.

Hey thanks to everyone for the positive comments about my rig. Cocko, the infeed power is single phase 20 amp. If you want to see some more details on the control panel I've got a build log HERE FYI the inside of the panel is more over the top than the outside.

Sweet. Good idea on the parquetry tiles. I have a bunch of spotted gum floorboards. I plan to machine them a bit thinner, then rip them into maybe 3 staves per board. Hopefully it should fit snugly on the 6mm yoga mat that I'll wrap around the portakeg.

Here's a pretty good HOW TO I found on the intertwizzle. It even explains how to calculate the correct bevel angles on the staves. Can't wait to get home because I'M PIMPING MY PORTAKEG WITH WOOD BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOYA!

Interested to know how you went about tightening the bands. Maybe you could throw a pic up if that would explain it better?

Ok so the wood is just held on by the tension of the colourbond straps? No glue holding the wood on?
