    Glass Longneck Bottles - Free

I've got about 40-50L worth of glass long neck bottles sitting in my basement that haven't been used since I started kegging. They need a good wash but apart from that there're good to go. I'm happy to swap for a 6-pack of your finest ale. Pick up only from East Brisbane. PM me if you're...

    Still good?

Apologies for starting another "have I killed my yeast" thread, but I've done something pretty dumb and I'm calling on the collective wisdom of AHB to let me know if the situation is salvagable. A couple of weeks ago my second fridge out in the garage got switched off. At the time I neglected...

FS: Full bar and brew setup

Would you sell seperately? I could be tempted by the kegerator and kegging gear.

    Ordinary bitter recipe

That looks pretty close to my go-to bitter recipe. I generaly go a bit harder on the crystal, to about 10%. Either way 5-10% crystal with about 30IBU of EKG is a pretty tasty drop in my book.

    Jester

I'm drinking a jester single hop bitter at the moment and it's a great hop. The aroma has hints of grapefruit but it's definately not overpowering like some US hops. It's got a bit of grassyness about it too so typical UK in that sense. On the palate there's more citrus notes, more lemony this...

    Chill haze

Big thanks for all the responses, especially to MHB. Plenty of good info there and ways to imporve my processes!

    Chill haze

In response to a number of comments, it is definitely chill haze. It's only cloudy when cold. My boils aren't that vigorous. I've only got an electric urn which struggles a bit to keep a hard boil. I'm planning on going gas soon so will be able to give it a bit more power. Does adding...

    Chill haze

I was originally going to post this in the “Whirlfloc and then what?” (http://aussiehomebrewer.com/topic/91101-whirlfloc-and-what-then/page-3#entry1378649) thread but as I was writing it it took on a life of it's own so I'm starting a new thread. I've been AG for three or four years now, doing...

Stalled Ferment - Usual solutions already tried

I've two bitters in fermenters at the moment that have both stopped at a FG of 1030. The malt bill was the same on both of them, 90% ale and 10% dark crystal to an OG of 1045. Single step mash at 68C for an hour. Both were aerated before pitching using my new aeration pump. Yeast was an old...

Sorry to open a new thread but I've developed a volcano

You should see what coopers yeast has done in a stout I've got going at the moment. Let's just say the ferment fridge is going to need a very through cleaning...

    National Homebrew

I'll also add my voice to the chorus praising this mob's customer service. I bought a pump off them not too long ago which packed up on me the first time I went to use it. I sent them an email on a Friday and had a replacement at my door on the Monday morning. Good work guys! I'll be using you...

First attempt at aussie mega swill - help appreciated!

My first reaction is "WHY?!? These people need to learn!!". But if they're serious... I'd be worried that that grain bill might give you a bit too much flavour. I'd try with just the pilsner and ale and add a bit of dex to bump up the alc content. MAke sure you mash it nice and low so you dont...

New mash tun, super low efficiency, help needed

Hi All, I got a new esky for Christmas to use as a mash tun and had my first run with it today. I ended up with an efficiency of about 65% which is way below what I used to get (sometimes nudging 80%). My old system was a small esky with a manifold at the bottom to drain. I used to batch...

    Brewing Salts, When To Add?

So I've been all grain brewing for a while noa and am jsut about to get into adding brewing salts to adjust my water chemistry and have a few questions. 1: I will be using rain water from a tank. I have heard it is fair to assume that for all intents and purposes it will be pretty much the same...
