    Gushers....(again)

I had the same problem and a commercial craft brewer put me right! I use napisan to soak the bottles before bottling. Just about a ¼ teaspoon per bottle in about a third of a bottle of water. I then bought a spigot which screws onto the tap and sends a high pressure jet into he base of each...

    Old Peculier

I brew this version - taken from the CAMRA recipe book. I use the malt extract method which works well. Certainly my favourite brew.

    Newbie from Sunshine Coast

There is a shop near the cinema in Caloundra which usually has the basics and kits. I live near Maleny and order most of my stuff online from National Homebrew in Hervey Bay. Great website and service too.

Mangrove Jacks Stainless Fermenter tap mod

Do you know if it’s possible to put a pick up tube on the inside of the original tap? I was thinking a push in snug fit pipe which allows you to extract more of the wort when bottling. The tap seems too high to me.

Cooper's Light Liquid Malt Low OG

Hi Mark I did call Coopers and they just called me back. They suggested that not all of the malt had dissolved in the FV and guess what? It hadn't, my fault and apologies to all who read my waste of time thread! David

Cooper's Light Liquid Malt Low OG

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I've been using Coopers' LLME for years and never encountered problems with low OG before. Recently I have had 3 English Ale recipes start with low gravity. Eg Theakstons OP should be around 1058 and mine was 1032. I have checked and double...

    Coopers Stout

I brew a coopers Irish regularly and just add a can of coopers dark malt.. and sometimes boil up about 15 g of target hops and throw that in at the start.. gives it a bit more of Guinness bitterness ... works for me! I’ve even tried adding treacle but it just seemed to raise the gravity without...

Ol brown dog coopers recipe of month

I agree with your comments on coopers yeasts... there is a bit of yeast b/s around. I’ve never had a problem with coopers yeast either and brew a modified pale ale quite regularly using the kit yeast... never been an issue

MJ SS Fermenter Volume marks incorrect

Good point...I checked the measuring jug and it wasn't accurate! I've been using it for years and assumed it was OK. Given the variation from 1 litre I'd say the fermenter marks are close to spot on, which doesn't explain how I lost a bottle or the abv was high...maybe I under filled it - bit of...

MJ SS Fermenter Volume marks incorrect

I just bought a new Mangrove Jack SS fermenter to replace the old plastic one that has made many brews. I did a batch and ended up with a bottle less than I would have expected. I decided to fill the fermenter with water to the 23l mark and measure what came out and the answer was 21.8 litres...

    Summer Mid Strength Recipes

I bought the CAMRA UK recipe book a few years back and it has loads of brews (full and steeping/extract) and many are around the 3.5/4% mark. It’s served me well for ale recipes.
