    Brewing With Diabetes?

I also have a mate with insulin dependent diabetes (type 2) who used to come over on a Friday night. However his blood sugar readings were always up on Saturday morning so he's had to stop coming (cos' he can't resist drinking if he did come). So I'd like to hear from anyone who's successfully...

    Using Flaked Maise In Mashes

I'm making an English ESB and my recipe calls for 1kg of flaked maise. Usuallly I just add it to the mash water first, give it a stir, and then add the rest of the grain bill. But I've read that you can also 'cook' the maise first. Any one got any experience or comments? ghhb

    Full Work Kits

Great discussion ... But ponder this ... the Spotted Cow is running a home brewing comp as part of their Queen's Birthday weekend Beer Festival this year. The Grand Prize is you get to make your beer at a boutique brewery (I think it will be at Stone & Wood) and have it on tap at the Cow in...

    Full Work Kits

Still thinking about these Full Wort Kits! What about entering one in a comp? Is that cheating? ghhb

    Full Work Kits

Couldn't agree more ... but when my 'work' consumes so much of my time that I also have run low on stock and had to buy a couple of 6 packs of craft beer from First Choice for the same money as it takes to make a keg, it seems I've completely missed full wort kits as an alternative. But there's...

    Full Work Kits

I had Paul, a fellow brewer visit over Easter from Brisbane and he brought with him a keg of beer made from a BrewCraft 15l Full Work Kit. No disrespect to my mate who is a kit brewer but when he said he was bringing it I was not expecting much. We'll ... to my surprise ... it was really good...

Water Chemistry - Please Read This

I think that water quality and chemical/salt profiles are critical, especially when you are trying to get from good beer to great beer. A few years ago I did the Coopers tour at their then new factory out in the suburbs. I wasn't a brewer then, just a drinker, so most of what I saw and heard...

Milking The Cow Beer Festival In Toowoomba

Looks like a crowd will be decending on chilly Toowoomba in June. Happy to provide floor space in front of the fire for those who want to sleep rather than drink  I have contacted Phil again about the brew comp rules and forms ... will post details when I get them. ghhb

Milking The Cow Beer Festival In Toowoomba

I was down at the Spotted Cow (Toowoomba) last night for dinner and a few pints and discovered they are running a beer festival over the June Long weekend. Basic details on their website: Festival includes chats by some brewers (Stone & Wood, Murrays, Lord Nelson so far), some special brews...
