    3787 is laughing at me

I smacked a pack of 3787 for our local Belgian Brew-off. I have all the confidence I'm going to win. I have my CaraBelg, and zested mandarins, crushed coriander seeds, etc.. I just pitched 3787 into a 3litres, of a 5 litre erlenmeyer flask. Now I wish it was a 30 litre fermenter, its about to...

    Infected Test Tubes

Its hard to tell from photo, but is the infection limited to just the furry bit on top? <--heheh furry infection ;) maybe scoop the bacteria from top, and culture the bottom yeasties (for the lager). if you find another clean slant or you smack another pack, try this method and compare...

Made me lol Wolfy :P But wait... How would you know what ladies' stockings look like? when crumpled up? :D I agree Nick, the importers need to adapt to the changing market, whether they like it or not. And its not just the hops, all brewery equipment that's imported is doubled everytime it...

    Dollar Reaches Parity...

I used my dirty socks and jocks as padding in between the layers (quarrantine loves sifting thru that :D ). I should've left them in for the photo, because they looked spectacular with the dozen or so Rogue/Chimay/SNPA/Kona longnecks they were wrapped in.

    Dollar Reaches Parity...

Heh, yes, the first bloke fell over backwards, then I was sent to the xray machine, and the hugest coincidence is the xray machine bloke was an extract/partials brewer, and after a lot of fast talking there was no "rubber-glove" treatment . *phew*

    Magnetic Stirrers

Ive had great results with the homemade version available from USA at stirplates.com However IF i was going to spend on a commercial plate, I would definetly have heating on my list of requirements. (Shed 12deg limited to lager yeasts, Laundry is 19deg and great for ale yeasts). In winter time...

Pivot Ring & Bar Bell Stir Bars

Mick, Cant comment on the "bar-bell" type, but... I bought my "pivot-ring" bars from proscitech in townsville, a 2pack of 50mm (octagonal profile) and 4pack of 35mm (hexagonal profile).. Compared to the standard bar, they're definately noisier, yet I think they spin harder than a standard bar...

    Black Ipa's

Last time I was in USA I found Widmers Pitch Black IPA on tap - truly amazing beer! :icon_drool2: http://www.widmer.com/beer_w_series.aspx " Pitch Black IPA is a Pacific Northwest twisted tribute to an IPA style of beer. It is almost a traditional IPA but it is instead brewed to the emerging...

    New Kit: Coopers European Lager

Hi Aaron, If you can control the ferment temp, then go with the WY2001, it is a great match, during the ferment period I always smell some bitter acidity something, but that seems to be gone after I crash chill. Saaz or Hallertau are both perfect for hop-tea additives. Also, Vienna or...

Poor mans Thermowell. The end of the tube is water proof with some blu-tack plugged in and some red electrical tape wrapped around it. Home brand apple juice 3 litre.

    Chest Freezer Info

+1 for more thermal mass (and momentum) with water in spare kegs.. Better yet... -put your temp probe into a spare diptube (or anything alloy that's similar to a keg diptube) -seal one end of that tube with blu-tack/epoxy/electrical tape/etc, and suspend the temp probe+tube (now called a...
