    Melbourne Water Report.

    Cheers Razz, that was easy!

    Melbourne Water Report.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck in obtaining any reports for Melbourne water (Yarra Valley in particular) that contain secondary aesthetic values (calcium, magnesium etc). All the reports I found on the net so far seem to omit all the details I am looking for. I've tryed ringing a...

Sump/grain Drains On A Ss Mlt

I suppose you could go through a bit water rinsing out the entire grain bed. I wonder if the valve was large enough (say 100mm diameter), would you be able push the majority of it through with a stick or equivalent, then just rinse the leftover grain off the keg walls?

    Glass Lid For Mash Tun

That is bloody beautiful! That idea for agitation is the bees knees!

Sump/grain Drains On A Ss Mlt

Looked up gate valves and their operation, they do look better suited for this operation. I don't think grain would clog up the gate valves mechanisms. Cheers for that mate!

    Keggle Tap Drill Bit

If you are drilling a hole into steel definitely don't use a spade bit. Either purchase a 15mm/imperial equivelent drill, and slowly step up to this size with your smaller drill bits heaps of cutting oil. Or maybe try a holesaw, again with heaps of cutting oil.

I second that motion, 2009 seems very dull.

Has James Squire Ruined The Golden Ale?

I bought a 6 pack last week, starting drinking a stubby and thought I had picked up some cursed CUB brew by mistake. All the hop aroma/flavour wasn't present at all, seemingly replaced with VB metallic flavour. I wonder if it was a bad batch or two.

Sump/grain Drains On A Ss Mlt

Second reason is that my MLT is hard plumbed in with copper/brass fittings, which makes disconnecting the MLT to clean a pain.

Sump/grain Drains On A Ss Mlt

Yeah, thats sort of what I was thinking. My main reason was so I don't knock/smash the temp probes I just mounted in there while I'm scooping out the grains.

Sump/grain Drains On A Ss Mlt

Hey all Just wondering if anyone has setup a sump drain point on the bottom of a SS keg to wash spent grain through. At the moment its a prick of job for me having to bucket it all out. Has anyone tryed anything like welding a threaded spigot (say 50mm or larger) with a plug to the bottom of...

    Introduce Yourself.

Hey all Pretty new to brewing, reading and studying like a ******* at the moment on all things brew related. I've been obsessed with craft beers for years and finally decided to start making my own at the start of this year. Brewing with a good mate who shares the passion and together we have...

Just tasted the Rogue Chipotle Ale on the weekend, extremley well balanced, smoked peppers sitting perfectly in the mix.

    Home Made Manifold...

Just about to go the opposite way, i've been using a slotted copper manifold in an esky with reasonable success, in the process of setting up SS keg with false bottom at the moment. I hope i'm not about to go three times as slow during lautering!

    Milk Stout Recipe Ideas.

First attempt at a milk/cream stout, anyone have any ideas/recipes they have used before? From reading other clone recipes, it seems the addition of lactose is the way to go but are there specific grains that support the mouthfeel/flavour of a milk stout?

Setting Up Mash/lauter Tun For The First Time.

Been attempting fly sparging with esky setup and been reading John Palmers works which have led me to wanting to build a keg setup. What sort of setup do you use yourself?

Setting Up Mash/lauter Tun For The First Time.

Hey guys, just starting out in All Grain brewing and trying to design/build keg type MLT. Brewing at the moment out of an esky with a drain mainfold and have had reasonable results, but looking to improve consistency, accuracy and ease of use overall with a SS MLT. I have done alot of research...

    Power Regulator For Electric Element

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't looked into the HERMS option and after reading about its operation, it does seem to eliminate scorch potential. Curious to know about peoples experience with it.

    Another Disasterous Brew Day!

Hahaha bloody apprentices, I had an expensive fluke with temp probes, it was left in the reservoir of a huge Evaporative cooler we where working on....commissioned unit and drowned my poor innocent meter, unfortunatley no soil around to make him dig a hole. I find that there a multitude of...

    Power Regulator For Electric Element

Hey guys, first post here. In the process of setting up SS 50L keg for a mash tun at the moment, first attempt. Basically my idea at the moment is to install the element(2400W immersable) under the false bottom. Element will be near recirculating drain spigot with the basic idea of pumping the...
