Using flip-top glass bottles- fill level and carbo drops

well, i have a lot of dextrose at home so perhaps I will try all three: one drop, two drops and some dextrose. 1.5 scoops would be about 5 or 6 grams, i guess.

Using flip-top glass bottles- fill level and carbo drops

yes, my brief taste from the fermenter suggests that it is a bit sweet. the ratio of apple to pear may be about the same as when i used apple + apple/pear juice combo, but the sweetness suggests not.r. not keen on sweet cider but brewing for me is all an experiment at the end of the day.

Using flip-top glass bottles- fill level and carbo drops

ok, sounds like I should not be worried about damage and either 1 or 2 x drops is the way to go. i will try both. thanks for the tip on the bottling tube, too. thanks for the replies, everyone. not going to be the best cider this time- made a mistake with ingredients (used some cloudy pear...

Using flip-top glass bottles- fill level and carbo drops

Hello, I have just finished a cider and now need to bottle it. Usually, I use the plastic bottles but have decided to try the flip-top glass bottles. With plastic bottles and cider: i use 2 x carbonation drops and fill to about 80% to 90% of the bottle With the flip-top glass bottles: - I...

Mead- Brewing Stopped Due To Heat

Thanks, Wolfy. It looks like I might need to purchase that book. I took another SG reading and it had dropped from 1.075 to 1.060 in a few days so fermentation does not seem to be slowing down. no doubt, patience will brign its rewards...

Mead- Brewing Stopped Due To Heat

thanks, wolfy. i realise I have to wait. after reading a thread about storing in the primary fermentation vessel for two weeks and then two weeks in the secondary, then bottling, I thought it should be like that for me. as it is, SG is coming down slowly and so am happy to leave it for another...

Mead- Brewing Stopped Due To Heat

i like that quote. thanks for the subsequent replies, people. it seems like there still may be hope, then. i will keep checking the SG over the next few days and rack in a week or two. "patience, grasshopper" should be my "watchword". thanks!

Mead- Brewing Stopped Due To Heat

Hi all, Brewing a mead with EC-1118. It has been going for 1 week or so and has never fermented vigorously, with bubbling at a steady rate of between one bubble per 10-20 seconds. However, bubbling is really slowing down now. I had hoped to put it into a secondary after two weeks, and let sit...

Lalvin Dry Yeast For Mead And Winemaking

that's not a bad idea. D47 seems popular for four out of six of us and I can up my quantity to 100g. The small retail packs of 5g yeast cost about the same as the 50g so happy to have a bit more. I am sure to use it more than twice... The K1 is less popular so I can change to a bigger quantity...
