    yeah gaffa tape will do . Nice that insulation works a treat . I use it on my mash tun which is a 50lt keg hardly lose any temp it's even better with the HERMS .

    Big Green shed . I just cut a peice of styrofoam to shape and covered it in cloth tape hardly lost any temp over the hour mash .

    Don't listen to them .I have asked the question is it any good and got told no and kept going with it and ended up with a decent size starter . The starter looks good and as you said it smells good when its finished build it up again.

    And that is why I don't enter comps any more is because of the inconsistencies . I had one beer judged by a reputable accredited BJCP he said it was a solid 40pts . Put it in a comp and it only received average 32pts .

    My grain bill was 63% wheat , 27% pale in the grainfather and no rice hulls took the top plate off and ran a knife through the grain boy was it a slow trickle of a sparge .

    No harm in that for us home brewers that's all part of the experience to try different hops and yeasts with oddball recipes and call it an ESB or American wheat beer or whatever . Brewing beer is always an experiment well at least that is how I see it .

    Yeah Amarillo and Cascade in a dark beer works really well it doesn't over power the malt as much as galaxy . Actually this discussion started with a dark ale with hoppy flavour and aroma go figure ?

    I used a kg of midnight wheat in a black IPA no burnt flavour in it at all. Mind you it took 12mths to become drinkable
