    Going to California.

Also I am going to bring beers back, probably just Russian River ones and Arrogant Bastard(I brewed the clone of this and it was really good, really unique though, will be good to compare, hopefully my memory isn't too hazy :drinks: ) because I couldn't get them anywhere in Australia. How many...

    Going to California.

Hey fellow Aussiehomebrewers, I have been travelling for 9-10 months around Central/South America and my trip is winding up but not before I spend 10 days in CA. My plan is to rent a car and visit all the breweries/brewpubs I have always wanted to. I'm starting in LA, then probably going...

    Blichmann floor standing burner

I got one, you need an adapter. Think it is QC-1??? to LPG. Easy. Good burner. I dont even have it turned anywhere near all the way up once it gets to the boil. 45ltr batches.

Retailers mark up and what is a fair hit?

Ultimately the price is set by the market, fair or not. I buy locally, from interstate and overseas (for hops). I never whinge about the prices because they are what they are and to be honest my dealings with Niko, Craftbrewer, Grain & Grape, TWOC and Nev have been exemplary, they have gone...

    Blichmann Hop Rocket

Love my Hop Rocket. Has anyone actually used pellets with it yet? I have a heaps of rice hulls and was thinking of mixing them with the pellets and using a hop bag. After boiling the rice hulls though to get rid of the rice tea flavour.

    Amarillo Shortage?

Just got my Niko hops. Feel bad for you man cause they are the most fragrant hops I have received. The 'old' 2011 Simcoe smelt so good as did the El Dorado. If $5 is such an issue for you I'll spot you so you can splash out. His product is always top notch and well worth the asking price.

    Too much?

This is a scaled up version of Jamil's BCS APA w/o caramel with more hops. A quick question, will the amount of hops at the end be too much/ overwhelming (The Galaxy addition will be in the Hoprocket). I'm thinking delicious but with all the talk of Citra/Simcoe producing cat piss...

    Australian craft beer standards

Maybe I could've been more clear in my initial post, these were my first experiences with either brewery. I often drink Feral, Little Creature's, Stone&Wood beers and they are all good, bottled or on tap. Feral Hop Hog is probably my favourite Australian beer. Stone & Wood however is often...

    Australian craft beer standards

Hi, My name is Neal and I enjoy beer. I often go out of my way to source craft beers. All my experiences with beers imported from the US have been top notch in terms of stability, flavour and expectations (minus the obvious freshness). Also I have never had a 'faulty' NZ/Belgian/German beer...

    Temperature Of Boiling Wort?

I have two rtd100 probes in my pids and a thermo pen. They all read exactly the same to .1. My temp of a rolling boil is 100.3. Can't recommend the thermo pen highly enough.

    Perth Royal Show

Got a silver under 12H for my beer 4B. Was a slightly bigger beer than Tasty McDoles Janets Brown. Same grist, different hops. Bittered with summit, then cascade late, flameout and dry hop. Water profile was RO + salts to make up "Ideal Pale Ale" off the water primer floating around on the...

This was my first year entering, do you get back a score sheet or just a result?

    Salt Additons

I always have sparged and mashed with the same profile built from RO water. Today I added all the salts in the mash as I read they dissolve better with the malt, then just sparged with RO water with 1ml of lactic to 33 litres of RO water. The last couple of brews there was no issue with...
