    Hag - Hunter Competition

Well I knocked off at 12 today and thought that I may as well brew something (first free time to brew in 6 weeks....), so dropped into Marks and picked up some ingredients for a mild. A bit of a revised/different recipe so see how it goes. Ran into schooey getting the gear to brew the same...

Hey Trent, The judging should be Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday including the BOS. Will be great to see you there. I'm sure I will have a hop flower filled beer for you to judge ;) Would be great to have you up there to Lee but Im sure all will understand with the circumstances...

    Byo: Magazine

Yes totally agree Doc, Byo postage is great. Could not recommend them more. Had the March/April edition Ross is talking about weeks ago. However I have been a Zymurgy subscriber since September last year and I am yet to get a magazine... Late January they said they should be here within 45 days...

    Smoked Malt

Only ever made 2 myself. 1 was 90% racuhmalt and was way over the top smoke wise. It has now been in the bottle close to 18 months and although the smoke has backed off alot I am liking it finally. Don't think I'd do that high a % again. I recently made a smoked porter with 2.5kg (~35%) of...

    Recommendations For A Beer Magazine?

Another vote for BYO. Not entirely AG but most of it is. I have a Zymurgy subscription but am yet to see a copy so can't really comment on it. Cheers

    Hag Christmas Case Drinkin'

Yeah quite possibly didn't mix in well enough I think. I to have bulk primed many a time with fine results. Cheers

    Hag Christmas Case Drinkin'

Looks like its back to the red priming thingy for me. I knew there was a reason why I only bottle once/twice a year. Thanks for the reviews though. Definately not the beer I wanted but seems to be drinkable all the same. Cheers Mitch

    Hag Christmas Case Drinkin'

This carbonation issue is quite weird. I had one on NYE after being in the bottle for some time and it was under carbonated... Dave's seemed to be ok but yours and Scotty's had issues. I bulk primed as well. Unless there were a few dodgy bottles but the one I had wasnt infected in anyway. Oh...

    Beersmith Setting It Up

I found it a good idea to go to this link and get the updated information (provided by Dave aka bigfridge) on the malts most of us would be using in Aus. It also has a bit of info when you go into the details (by double clicking on the malt once added or edit when adding) regarding max in...

    Carlton Dry Fusion

Yes if it is like most of the other Monteith beers currently available I won't be wasting my time.

    Carlton Dry Fusion

Cheers Dave that makes much more sense then. I only ever had the understanding of bocks being lagers and in all the readings I have done on them never really thought about them being ales as they always seem to refer to the use of lager yeasts. Thanks

    Carlton Dry Fusion

The current Monteiths Summer Ale is very ordinary as well. Well might be ok if it was a ginger beer.... Ginger is pretty much all I get with it. And what is with the Doppelbock Winter ALE? Monteiths is now owned by DB Brewies so not really a micro in my books. Sorry a bit of topic I know. Cheers

    Murrays "new" Sassy Blonde

You were saying something about this the other week and I really must go get some and give it a try now. I haven't had it in a few months but I was a fan of it before (but like you I did/do prefer the Nirvana) but if its a change for the better then Ill definitely give it a whirl. I'll give it a...

    Hag Christmas Case Drinkin'

Thanks for the feedback Trent. It was supposed to be a lot hopier yet on the day I had a real issue with my water calcs. I somehow over shot and ended up with 30ltrs instead of the intended 25ltrs. I really should write the litre amounts on my HLT sight gage marks.... I tried this the other...
