Ag Seems Expensive,am I Missing Something

I would've thought that AG was more expensive than kits and bits but less expensive than buying beer of similar variety and quality. And of course it's a hobby so who cares how much it costs.

How To Build A Cheap-ass Thermowell For Fermenter In 5 Minutes

Yeah that's what I would have thought. I don't know that you'd be getting an accurate reading. I've used dip tubs from kegs with a crimp in one end. I still fill the thermowell with sterile water as the air in the thermowell will provide some insulation so the probe is in liquid but not beer...

Your Beer, Your Kids And Your Attitude

It's interesting to note that the liquor industry is something of a protected species in this country when it comes to health warnings a encouragement of so called responsible drinking. Contrasted with the tobacco industry it has suffered only a very light touch with regard to being forced to...

Your Beer, Your Kids And Your Attitude

Have to disagree. Somethings wrong when it's verboten to sell booze in a supermarket or deli. Is it because we can't be trusted or is it to protect a few vested interests? A bit of both I'd suggest. Still, idiots manage to create enough havoc to ruin it for the rest of us.

    Priming A Keg With Sugar

I bulk prime in the fermenter. I usually bottle about 3 litres for samplers/competitions and keg the rest so as far as I'm concerned there's no distinction.

    No Love For Paddy's Brewery?

Thanks for the info SDB, I'll check it out next time I'm over. Just out of interest how does the local craft beer scene compare to the US on a quality, variety and price basis?

    I'm Going To Belgium!

Most of the important ones are a fair distance. Westmalle is north of Antwerp which is north of Brussels and Chimay is in the south. It really depends if you have a car or not. Although public transport is excellent there are the inevitable delays changing trains, buses etc. A lot of the...

    I'm Going To Belgium!

So are you actually going to travel around Belgium or are you just restricted to Brussels? If you are able to visit the other cities then that changes things.

    I'm Going To Belgium!

Was there about 6 weeks ago. The best place is Delirum Tremens. It's somewhere off the Rue de Boucher, the main tourist restaurant area. It's a bit hard to find because the streets are a bit confusing. There's also a good restaurant in St Catherine (called Restaurant Ste. Catherine). The beer...

If Only Aussie Pie Shops Had This...

Good post. One thing though, the ATO will refund 60% of excise paid up to a maximum refund of $10,000 if you are an independent brewery with an output less that 30K litres.

    Five Figure Posters?

Must have had a private school education then? Look I love a good old tackle out, free exchange of views using the popular vernacular as much as the next poster. But this used to be a quite technical forum and the place for that kind of language was marginal at best. I mean the constant...

    Five Figure Posters?

Hmm ... most of whom joined in the last couple years, not that there's anything wrong with that, but you want to be careful of the echo chamber effect.

Agree about Icon. For me the trifecta is Hop Hog, Icon and Alpha in no particular order. But then I like hops.
