Totally forgot to post my feedback on the vac sealer. It works a treat, perfect vac seals on the proper bags, really good vac seals on some other packaging (I'm talking about vac sealing a bag of rice etc from coles) and perfect seals on everything else.

    Pilsner - Question about racking

Hmmm... looks like I'll be freeing up a couple of fermenters usually reserved for racking, guess I'll have to brew more beer?

    Pilsner - Question about racking

The reusable yeast is a perk but not the main reason I do it, and I've certainly retrieved yeast from primary before (more work to seperate it from the trub & hops debris but there is stuff all on telly these days so it's not like I don't have enough time to do it), the main reason I have done...

    Pilsner - Question about racking

Cheers Bribie G, hadn't considered the fragility of lagers (lages slcmorro?) as opposed to ales.

    Pilsner - Question about racking

I always ensure everything is sanitised (including me), my hose reaches all the way to the bottom of my secondary fermenter to remove any splashing and I always fill the vessel with CO2 before racking. I'm not worried about the process of racking, more just interested to hear theories about how...

    Pilsner - Question about racking

Hi All, Having recently got off my ever expanding backside and set up a temp controlled fridge I felt it was time to do a pilsner. I've pretty much followed Boston's recipe and I'm comfortable with most of the steps, however I was wondering about racking to secondary. When I brew an ale I...

AHB Articles: Fermenting Directly in the No-chill Cube

Raw rice? Never heard of that method before, is that so you have something in there to agitate and knock hard to reach dirt off the walls?

Homebrew Gear on the 3D Printer?

    That is a great idea!

Homebrew Gear on the 3D Printer?

It prints using some sort of resin, may not be food safe so this discussion could be entirely theoretical, will see if I can get more info on exactly what it uses.

Homebrew Gear on the 3D Printer?

The guys in the lab at my office have managed to convince the bosses that they need a 3D printer which may be available for use by smooth talkers bearing coffee. This raises the question, what nifty homebrew gear should I print out?

    VICBREW 2013

Curious as to why there is a 500ml minimum on bottle size, I understand that an entry of 2 375ml stubbies might mean a fraction more handling required by the stewards but it seems like it just adds another layer of inaccessibility for new brewers. I'm sure the simple answer that people will...

    disturbance to my bottles

Will make a difference to appearance (cloudy) and a little bit to taste (yeasty) but to be honest I usually roll my bottles around a bit to mix the yeast back in before drinking anyway, I enjoy the flavour. As slcmorro said you can just leave them to settle down again if you want, but I'd at...
