    Tas Brewery Tours.

Dave, I've done Cascade twice and I'd probably do it again. If I was going to be in Launceston then I'd definately be interested in Boags. As beerforal said - Any brewery tour is a good tour.

    Brew Rig Options

I think this answers the question of why Jonathon is building his brewery this way. Bloody impressive by the way Jonathon. :beerbang: Scott

Overwhelmed And Its Pi#$$*s Me Off

eddy22, Back in my extract days I almost always substituted some of the malt extract for dextrose. I used dry malt extract 99% of the time. Because the extract doesnt ferment out completely I always found the resultant beer was quite cloying. I found by using a little dextrose it thinned the...

Barley Crusher Mill Is Driving Me Crazy..

My BC has chewed through 50 odd batches worth of grain. I use a variable speed electric drill and I run this at a 'mid' range speed right from the beginning and throughout the whole crush. I've only ever had one occasion when it didn't grab and since then, like a few others, I 'prime' the mill...

    Millenium Hops

Hi Dicko. I'm currently drinking a Millenium Ale at the moment. I have a love / hate relationship with it. At times I quite enjoy it and at other times I wonder why I'm bothering. The recipe was - JW Ale - 67% JW Pilsner - 22% JW Wheat - 11% 12g Millenium 14.4% - 60 mins 20g Millenium 14.4%...

Pitching Yeast...how Long Can I Wait?

Alby, I usually pitch around 8-12 hrs after filling the fermenter. As Geoffi said, as long as your sanitation is good you shouldn't have a problem. Scott BTW - definately wait until its cooler before you pitch.

    My New Brew Rig...stoked

Looks great jeddog. Love the timber. Is it Merbau? Goes well with the black paint. Certainly better than with red. Cheers Scott

Lhbs's Giving Me The Shatz Lately

Interloper, I think you'll be happy with the Danstar Munich yeast. I did a few wheat beers with WB-06 when it first came out and was very happy with them. I've since used the Danstar Munich yeast a couple of times and to be honest I prefer it over the WB-06. Scott

Problem With Ferment - Not Happening?

Neill, It'll work its way out. Personally I'd just keep using the lid. Put it on, stick the airlock in and if it bubbles - good, if it doesn't then it doesn't matter anyway. Some of my fermenters seal well, others don't. Don't lose sleep over it. Scott

My Airlock Most Definitely Is Bubbling

BribieG, I've fermented with US-05 down to 15-16C with no problems. Like you're doing I would also give it a rest at around 20C towards the end. Scott

Need Advice For Setting Up A Cb's Kegmate Please.

Chappo, Here is a link to my set up. The only issue I had was with the amount of room between the top of the fridge and the bench top. First off I drilled the bench top and then attached the fonts. Because of the limited room I then had to unscrew and lift the bench top. I needed to do...

    Synthetic Sausage Casings

Thanks for the laugh Tony. Using "flaccid" and "Enid, my wife and sausage puller" in a post had me laughing out loud and wiping tears from my eyes. Cheers Scott

    Leaving Uncooked Wort

Just to be a little more helpful. I have left wort for a couple of hours before boiling in the past. Never noticed a difference. Don't really like doing it but couldn't be helped at the time. Still reckon you should just get up earlier though. :D Scott

    Good Deal On Urns

gava, One big advantage of using an urn is that you can fill it the night before, put it on a timer and when you wake up in the morning your ready to dough in. Scott
