Yep, wheat beers are traditionally primed higher. Each to their own, I recently did mine to about 2.8 volumes. That's plenty for me. I think traditionally it's supposed to be 3-4 volumes? Something along those lines. If you google "priming calculator" a whole bunch of sites will come up with...

:icon_offtopic: The beer you speak of is called Chicha. Peruvian women traditionally chew up the corn kernals to help convert the starches (our mouths have lots of lovely enzymes), this corn goes in the 'mash'. Could have a very interesting taste :lol:

If you're going to go the hospitality supplies route, try and find second hand stuff. Restaurants and cafes go out of business every day. There are always auctions and liquidations etc going on (a lot of places specialise in these). You can certainly pick up a bargain if you look in the right place.

You should keep that colony and it's queen Ciaron. Looks like you could have a second life as official AHB honey supplier :D I'm putting first dibs on some from the next batch, I'm honey crazy at the moment. How many hives are you allowed over there in residential area?

Well, last Saturday was a great day. We managed to get a few come along, with varying levels throughout the day. Many different beers sampled with 4 taps on the go. Managed to sample 2 x golden ale, Irish red, summer ale, coopers pale clone, California common, American amber and a very tasty...

It's not even late over there yet!! No excuses :D

Anyone know how Biero used to do it? Not that they were kegs, but they were ugly arse tubes, so I'm guessing same rules apply.

So it's on for this Saturday 31st March. Many thanks to Hammo for hosting us. It's going to be a morning/lunch get together. We'll be firing up the forno early for a brewers breakfast whilst doing the first brew and I get the pizza dough happening. Later, it'll be wood fired gourmet pizza...

G'day all! Apologies for taking so long in getting this orgainised. Started uni last month and the weeks kind of ran away from me, lol. So the inaugural meet up of the Border Brewers is going to be on Saturday 31st March. Hammo has graciously offered to host us for an afternoon of beers...

They would call it Shiraz. The grapes are grown in Australia. Read my post again. Depends on the vintage.

Yep, the two are one and the same. However, how it is pronounced and spelled, is really a matter of where it comes from. Syrah is the French name and is is just about everywhere overseas. Shiraz is what we call the grape here in Australia and New Zealand (we didn't coin the word). Same grape...

Mind you, vintage is on at the moment, so James might be busy with that. Call first maybe and check if the taps are open.

Shoot across and see James at Black Dog Brewery if your stuck for something to do. He's at Taminick Cellars just near Glenrowan. I think you can also get a Bridge Road Brewery beer on tap at one of the bottle shops in Milawa. Just across from where Chistmont have an outlet. Can't miss it
