    Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship 2013

It'd be nice to have some sort of case swap with all the left overs for entrants that don't make the national comp. Maybe next year, I'd be happy to help organise that part if anyone thinks it would work.

    Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship 2013

What normally happens for getting the score sheets? Are those posted somewhere or will I need to email someone for them next week?

What styles were judged over the long weekend?

    Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship 2013

I dropped my beers off earlier this week. I understand the overall scores are uploaded on the http://qabc.org.au/ site after the comp. Just wondering if it is possible to get the tasting notes for my beers from the day?

    Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship 2013

Thanks! I have thought about going to a club, might look into that in the future. The second beer tastes a bit more bitter and hoppy and a bit lighter in color, so I was thinking I could enter it as an American IPA? Not sure if I am way off on that, but that style also overlaps as well...

    Queensland Amateur Brewing Championship 2013

I have two APA's I would like to enter. The rules state that I am only allowed one entry per style. Can I enter the second APA purely for feedback but it will be excluded from any prizes and the AABC?

    Infection Photo Thread

Had a taste this morning after filtering and force carbing and it isn't bad, undecided if I should throw it out. Might leave it a week or two and see if it gets better or worse.

2-3 weeks and it was left on the yeast cake.

Nuh, not two in a row. Second time ever, years apart. I have pulled the fermenter apart including the tap and I will see how the next batch goes. I'm pretty good with the sanitizing and cleaning, basically just wondering if longer cold conditioning on the yeast may of contributed to it.

Cheers. Is it common for this to happen if you leave it cold conditioning on the yeast cake for ages even at the cold temps? It is the second time this has happened and both times I left it cold conditioning for weeks (coincidence or not), first time was years back when I didn't have a...

What do you think about this, any ideas what it would be? I can't taste anything bad in the beer but this stuff only seems to be on the top. It only noticed it today, it has been 2-3 weeks cold conditioning (as I couldn't be bothered moving it off the yeast cake into a keg, normally I only...

    Stone And Wood Ale Recipe

If I brewed this using BIAB would I just throw the mash hop in at the start of the mash (along with the grains) and then remove it after the mash out, or should it be in a hop bag and stay there for the whole boil? I have never done a mash hop before so not sure. Thanks!

    Fiji beer

Has anyone been to the Vonu brewery in Nadi? Just wondering what it's like and if they do a tour or have a decent bar on-site. Going to Fiji in soon for a mates wedding and a brewery sounds like a good place to start the bucks night off early in the day.

Filtering After Aging Beer Or Before

Is it best to filter the beer before letting it rest for a few weeks or afterwards or doesn't it really matter? Usually after filtering the beer tastes nicer if I leave it a week in the keg to sit. I was just wondering if I let it rest for 2 weeks before filtering would that be a better...

    Pouring Bottles From A Kegerator

Yeah I just cracked open a few that I poured into bottles yesterday using a tube running to the bottom of the bottle. Seems it didn't lose much carbonation as the bottles were room temp as well. My fridge is set to the lowest setting which should be 2C, but I don't have a temp. gauge on mine...

    Pouring Bottles From A Kegerator

Thanks for all the replies. I have looked at the Blichmann Engineering bottle filler but any of the videos show it just being used to purge the bottle with CO2, not to keep pressure during the pour. I only have a 1kg CO2 bottle so between filtering, force carbonating and serving it isn't...

    Pouring Bottles From A Kegerator

Thanks Chops, I'l have a look into that then. Do you have any experience with them or know what one would be best?

    Pouring Bottles From A Kegerator

I have just purchased my bottle capper so I can now take home brew when I go out. Just wondering what everyone uses to pour bottles from their keg setups. I can't seem to pour into a bottle easily without foam, a glass pours fine though. Seems the tap is too large for the bottle opening to...

    Polyclar

I kegged a batch of beer this afternoon and cooled it in my kegerator for 3-4 hours and stirred up some Polyclar for an hour while watching TV. I then went to put it in the keg and didn't think the keg was cold enough so I left the Polyclar on the bench covered for a few hours. I then later...

    Beer Gas On Or Off?

I turn my CO2 off at the bottle when I'm not using the system. Then again I don't have three gas disconnects going to each keg either, I just move the one around as needed. I am interested to see what everyone else is doing though.
