    KegLand Questions and Answers

I'm hoping one of these has made it into Gash's hands. Can't wait to see a Youtube review on these things.

    cleaner

The photos are pretty hard to read, but judging by the name it should be OK. Check the ingredients. If the active ingredient is sodium percarbonate then you're good, but you also want it to be fragrance free.

Robobrew - any point in whirlpooling

Thanks, that's a good use case and I wondered about that. The bottom screen could be a couple of millimetres bigger to block that gap a little better. I had no issues with hops getting into my fermenter without whirlpooling, but 90% of my hops were in a BIAB bag, with just a small amount of...

Robobrew - any point in whirlpooling

Thanks MHB. I've got about 100 batches of beer under my belt in my old Esky mash tun and Crown urn. I know how to whirlpool and why, and I had good success with it in my old Crown urn. I'm trying to determine if there's any point doing it in a Robobrew? If the hops aren't filtering the trub and...

Robobrew - any point in whirlpooling

So with the pump sucking from below the false bottom, what's the point of whirlpooling to a cone? It sounds to me like the false bottom plus bed of hops is doing all the filtering.

Robobrew - any point in whirlpooling

I did my first Robobrew on the weekend, after moving on from an esky mash tun + urn. All in all it was a good experience, although I forgot to whirlpool. It got me thinking - is there much point in whirlpooling in a Robobrew? Where will the trub cone sit? On top of the false bottom? The...

Sydney Water website updated - it's pretty decent now

I've noticed the water supply gets chlorine bombed more regularly now. Or am I just noticing it more after reading half the Water book?

Sydney Water website updated - it's pretty decent now

Hi folks, https://www.sydneywater.com.au/SW/water-the-environment/how-we-manage-sydney-s-water/safe-drinking-water/water-analysis/index.htm I'm not sure when this happened, but the Sydney Water website is actually half decent now. In the past I could only seem to ever find an old report and...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Does anyone have recommendations for fermenting fridges for the Fermzilla 27L? It's too big for my current bar fridge. It even looks too tall for my keg fridge. I can't fit in a full size kitchen fridge, so I'd need something in between a bar fridge and a kitchen fridge. Any ideas?

    Inkbird temp controller ITC-310T-B AU$55.99 Delivered 30%OFF

Thanks, I think I can wait until it's available again locally. Do you know if there is API documentation for this? I would be interested in combining this product with a digital hydrometer, so that I can adjust temperature automatically based on the automatic hydrometer readings.

Brew Wild - Sour & Wild Ferment Homebrew Competition - Sydney 2019

The comp looks great! However, the minimum of 2 bottles per entry is a little steep, especially when we're talking about sour beers that may have taken years to brew. Most other comps accept either 2 x 330mL or 1 x 700mL. Mine are in 700mL bottles and I won't want to give up 1.4 litres for...

This may sound crazy but hear me out.

Never done it, not an expert, but I think potassium metabisulfite might help here. It's what wine people use to stop fermentation. A quick Google suggests cider folks use it too. It should be available from your LHBS. Campden tablets could also do the trick.
