    Carbonation Stone.

Hi guys, I know that you have to find the wetting pressure of your stone, as in the amount of psi needed before the carbonation stone will create it's mist of bubbles, and for every 28 inches of beer height in the tank above the stone you add 1 psi, and add this figure to the psi you are...

    Why 3.8ABV%?

Obviously you could brew what you are making now, and reduce the water, make it 19ltrs instead of 23. Would be a sweeter beer, but better alcohol %

    Why 3.8ABV%?

Look up and research/read about Gravity Points. Basically you take your gravity reading, say 1.040, this gets multiplied by 1000 to make 40 and then the litres target gets multiplied aswel to give you gravity points. You work out what gravity points you need, and then there are various online...

    Why 3.8ABV%?

Yep, anything at 1.010 is a good finishing point with enough residual sugars and malts left over to give a good mouth feel. You will find that your starting gravity when adding the extra dextrose will be around the 1.047 range. Definitely the brew enhancer 2 was the reason for the lower...

    Tinseth hop calculations and whirlpool

Thanks, I have my own spreadsheet instead of beersmith etc.., so was trying to overcome this problem. At the moment I am treating FWH as a 60 min addition plus 10%

    Tinseth hop calculations and whirlpool

Hi, if you are having a 10 min whirlpool hop addition, would you in theory add 10 mins to each hop additions utilisation (Tinseth formula), as effectively the hops are in contact with wort for an extra 10 mins before cooling? Eg, the 60 min addition adds 70 mins worth of ibu's with the 10 min...

I will be posting some entries from Darwin, but can only find info from last year's competition. I tried to send an email via the contact tab on the website, but the captcha is not working. Basically all I'm chasing is the postal address and timeline. Thanks Darryl

How did you go with the Sparging? You need about a inch if wort above the grain, and adjust the speed of the transfer to brew kettle such that it is the same as the sparge water coming in. Good luck. I'm jealous of your setup. Obviously you work hard and have earnt it. [emoji106][emoji482][emoji481]
