Bought a Grainfather so my original brewery is for sale. The mash tun and keggle have been my mainstay for 10 years. Brewstand a more recent inclusion. No HLT as it's also my preserving urn.

Hop rhizomes are done for another year. Now to see if glyphosate can kill a hop that's been in the ground for 10 years. Need to get rid of the chinook and reclaim a large piece of the vegie garden.
Victoria is always the first out of the blocks but if you are growing Chinook for the first time, beware, it will wait much longer and then fly out of the blocks and outgrow anything else. Fecking weeds. [emoji1]
A good carbon filter will remove all the organic impurities in water. Combined with a 0.5 micron particulate filter, will remove just about all microbial impurities as well.
Edit - then add some calcium salts as MHB pointed out and your set for brewing.
I store the rhizomes in foam boxes in the shed with a bit of moist coir. They are shooting here too.
Victoria is now sold out.
Fire sale on Chinook. $65 including express postage for 10 rhizomes. These need to be planted asap!
Chinook is a monster although it is usually the last to shoot. I've found it to outgrow all other varieties easily.
Still plenty of Chinook available and a small number of Victoria. Please send me a PM if you're after any.
Will have Chinool for at least another month plus have a patch I haven't dug up yet. Victoria will be gone soon. They need to be planted soon as they'll start growing soon.
I've caught up on all the orders and posted a heap out yesterday. Thanks for your patience.
Still plenty of Chinook available but Victoria is running out.
To all those who have ordered and paid expecting postage today, I have had to postpone posting this week. Rest assured you will get your rhizomes but they will now be posted next week.
I'm a full time stay at home Dad now along with running a new vegie gardening business and part time study...
Thanks for the plug and glad you are happy with your rhizomes. Packaging is something I take pride in and once people receive their rhizomes they will understand the amount of effort I put in to getting your rhizomes safely to you and how little money I make. Definitely not a get rich quick scheme.
Not sure there is such a thing as normal when dealing with these plants. They are beasts that will grow in the dark in a fridge wrapped up.
Pots will allow the soil to warm up so it's not that unusual for them to take that as a signal to start growing, compared to in the ground where the...
I don't see how you are favouring the maillard reaction by introducing a large amount of water given your method is indirect heating.
I'd stick to toasting and just do it longer at a lower temperature.
A few updates.
I'm now posting on a Tuesday due to changes in my work arrangement.
Postage to WA was a success so my packaging conforms to WA quarantine requirements.
Still plenty of both varieties available.
