    Free Craft Glasses At Bws!

I was at the shops this evening and I picked up a 6 pack of LCPA this evening from BWS, as you can get a 2 pack of craft beer glasses, when you buy a 4 or 6 pack of craft beers. The BWS where I was had Little Creatures, Squire, Monteith's, 4 Pines, Fat Yak.... etc, you get the drill. The glasses...

    What are you listening to

At the risk of offending metal heads everywhere (and I still consider myself one), I dont think you can take yourself too seriously playing metal. Especially IMO, when donning the corpse paint, or machine gun bullet belts when on stage. I will also have to check out Laura when watching Boris...

    What are you listening to

Yep the melvins were supporting primus, but also part of the soundwave festival. Which btw despite the usually awesome line ups, I never been to, as its on or very close to my wedding anniversary. Another cool Melvins influenced band Boris are on their way back. They should be worth seeing if...

    What are you listening to

Finally got a copy of Corrupted's - Garten der Unbewusstheit. So have been pumping that at maximum volume when I can. Epic Doom, if that's your thing. Peakydh - nice one on the melvins. Did you get to see them last year.

    Using Out Of Date Extract

If its not too late. I used an old can of extract to experiment with, for lager creation and techniques a while back. Probably not the best style to be aiming for, but none the less it was an experiment. Anyhow its not my best beer, but its drinkable and it was an experiment. So not a big loss...

Whats Your Cost Of Hb Per Stubbie?

Like rugby players of old, I do it for the love not the money. But like Stux above, SWMBO also uses the vac sealer and bits and pieces of mine, so my hobby is getting cheaper all the time.

    Monteith's Sparkling Ale

I picked up a couple in a bottlo last weekend for something different, but cost 6 bucks each. I might stick my head in Aldi and see if they have anymore... Anyhow it was quite drinkable, and I'd reckon you could polish off 12 stubbies quite easily.

2011 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hops!

I didnt quite read all 40 pages, but I think I figured it out. Perhaps. I think I'll be waiting til they start to dry a little on the plant, which could be a while still as its raining heaps and they're green and plump still.

2011 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hops!

I have a quick question as I too have a saaz and hersbrucker (my saaz hops aint quite as big as in the pic, but my hersbrucker are slightly bigger, maybe 3cm long). My question is when is the right time to pick them? As I picked what I thought was a bigger hersbrucker hop on the weekend...

2011 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hops!

Hi All, Here's one of my three hop vines so far (haven't taken any pics of the others but will do). Anyhow its a one year old Mt Hood, growing in about 40L of soil as we rent, but I pile on the chook poo. I've trained it up the downpipe upto the roof line (maybe 6m) and am also training...

    Ood Yeast?

After a couple of years away from brewing back in July, my first beer used yeast that was at least two years ood. I just made a starter (it was a lager anyway), to test the viability.

    A Couple Of Rookie Questions

Miltob tablets work, but there are more economical sanitisers than milton tabs, like starsan or iodophor (i use both). but if you do stick with the milton, like your babies things (and my boys things) they just need 15 min contact time and air drying after. Rinsing just makes things dirty...

    Bravo Apa - Of Sorts

I recently picked up a pound of Bravo hops from hops direct and am now looking to trial them in an APA (or IPA perhaps). Has anybody had much to do with them to date? Everything I read about them says that they are pleasant and dual purpose or something along those lines. So after fiddling...
