Hrmm this takes me back For the first few brews I had not got around to getting me a worm drive clip to clamp the plastic host to the false bottom. The first brew went fine no problems. The second, well that was a different story. Had to empty the whole lot into the brew pot thanks to...

I am also interested in some further feedback if available JSB after a long conditioning if the beer lasted that long, what was your thoughts on recipe tweaks. Which was close to the intended taste, v1 or v2. Thirsty, did you find any further guidance for those interested in the Alpha. As...

Multiple Batches In One Brew Session

I am only really allowed one brew day every three / four weeks. Any more is too high a bill with the missus. For me its need that makes me do two brews at a time. Any less and I run out of beer. But here in lies the conundrum. Brew day is a special occasion, and one must get "off" in a big...

What Is A Beer Nerd ?

I felt a bit nerdy today I took a bottle of my hefe weiss beer to work for a guy from Bavaria to try. He recons it was right on the mark, reminded him of home and he even asked if i could bring in a few more bottles so he can take them home. I was beaming with pride as I thought I made...

What Is A Beer Nerd ?

A man who orders a pint, and immediately discover it is flat, when he raises this with staff is told: "oh, it's an Ale, so its meant to be less carbonated than a lager". And replies "WTF has a bottom fermenting yeast strain, that works at lower temperature have to do with the level of...

    Hoegaarden Ag Clone

Good luck, this is an advanced beer for your first AG. I have brewed the wit recipe from Zaniasheff’s brewing classic styles. Mash at 50c for 10 mins and then take it to 68c for the reminder of a 90 min mash. This seemed to work well for me, and beer turned out very good, although the...

    Whirlfloc When To Add

So far the amber did not floc as it was cooling, the bright ale did nicely tho. But it seems I have got it wrong, the chill haze will not be improved from whirfloc, I need additional clearing stuff in the fermentor at some time. Ahh good, a new experiment to try on the next brew day.

    Whirlfloc When To Add

Hey Mika, yeah when it is a bit warmer its clear and when its below 7c its a bit hazy. I am seeing a good amount of tissue material flogging around in the pot during boil, especially following the whirlfloc. With the amber, it did seem loose the tissue material after 25 mins, when adding the...

    Whirlfloc When To Add
