    NSW State Comp 2016

Thanks all for your efforts! Sounds like two very long days. Stoked with my sours score, can't wait for the feedback. Hopefully, I will have the time to put my hand up to steward next year. Would love to see how it all works.

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Okay upgraded successfully today. I can't see any difference, it's not matching the grainfather calculator? I have it setup as per an earlier linked post. I think I'll keep my process the same. Use Beersmith for recipe formulation and predicting efficiency and OG and use the calculator for volumes.

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

I've tried updating but keep getting an error that it"could not establish connection to server". So I'll give up for a day or two and see if I can try again. Edited - auto correct changed day to week for some crazy reason! Bit exessive auto correct.

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

As Killer Brew said, easiest to input the grain weight into the grainfather calculator and it will tell you how much water to add. Cold space has done a wonderful job taking you through the steps. A few points in there to pay attention to, or you will have issues. (Read that as things I and/or...

    New Grainfather Conical Fermenter

Hmm. This throws a spanner in the works. Was considering a kegmenter, but might hold off and see how this goes for pricing. Would be easy enough to pump cold water through it from the fridge. Sounds like it's what the ftss and brew bucket should be.

    Recipe Critique

I'd be looking at: 1) Temperature - Have you got a trusted thermometer to check that the robobrew is actually hitting the temps it says it is? 2) Volumes - How are you measuring volumes? The original robobrew didn't have volume markings. If there are any local all grainers near by maybe they...

    Hop Thief 7 Clone

Tried 8 this week. Happy to say it is an improvement on 7, I can taste hops! But 6 was better. Never tasted crystal hops, but I like 'em in this. Can't believe they listened to the hipsters though and changed the malt bill because it "wasn't pale enough".

    Having a "crack" at sous-vide

The pulled pork came out great. Cervantes, have a look at the Serious Eats link Revox linked to. They show what happens to steaks cooked to the same internal temperature for different cooking times. It's quite eye opening. The one on eggs is more amazing visually!

    Having a "crack" at sous-vide

Attempting pulled pork for tomorrow's meal. 18-24 hours and will be the star of our GYG inspired chipotle pulled pork burrito bowls. Haven't had much luck with the WIFI on the Anova, but aside from that it works flawlessly. Love this thing in spite of the WIFI. Edit - oh and I decided to drill...

    finally a decent pils.. probably

But won't this just lead to nothing but 10%+ ABV beers hogging the taps like IPA's and their derivatives are now? Don't get me wrong, I love an IPA and I love a RIS, but the first overloads my palate after a couple and the second overloads my balance after a couple. Bring on the mild craze, so I...

    Merchant Brewing

Just met up with the guys from Merchant brewing at Keg and Brew in Sydney. They had a 10 tap take over. Loved everything I tried and they were awesome to chat to. Personally bringing around rum balls to try with their christmas in July inspired "Rumble in the Jungle" was a great touch.

Sour Beers - Why Don't I Get Them?

Well just had a sour, all Brett, I didn't like. Don't think I can blame the Brett though, I think it was the Earl grey tea they added that I didn't like.

Another week, another new home brewing gadget

Yeah I've got a Canadian mate who moved out here recently who has only used glass carboys, paid heaps to source them. I must have finally got through to him though because he bought a brew bucket the other day. Now to convince him that no chill doesn't lead to botulism...

    Falling short of target OG

This was the issue I believe, was a few years ago so surely fixed up by now. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/substandard-malt-by-joe-white-leaves-brewers-bitter/news-story/d872f5ec946a0511744cd61dbd47b2a5
