Using Czech Saaz In A Wheat Beer

WarmBeer, While I haven't done an AG wheat beer, I've just started drinking an extract Weizen that was brewed using Les the Weizguy's RE Weizen recipe from the database that only has 25g addition of Czech Saaz @ 60 minutes. Has ended up being a great beer and would quite happily do this one...

    Cling Wrapped

Have only cling wrapped once, used the o-ring from inside the lid and didn't have any apparent issues with gas not being able to get out

    Starting Wyeast

After reading through this thread & Tony's thread on splitting smack-packs I've decided to split an activator pack that I have sitting in the fridge into 4 (3 to be stored, one to use at time of splitting). As I only brew 23 litre batches, would a starter volume of around 500ml be sufficient to...

    Woolworths Canning The Cans?

My local Woolworths has had the cans of goo on sale for the huge discount of $0.20 per can & $0.18 per box of BE1 for the last 2 weeks. I'm guessing the tickets advertising the sale cost more than that to print up.

    Professional Vs Amateur - Competitions

Getting paid to do something doesn't immediately make you an expert at it & I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would have close to the same level of knowledge of brewing as some commercial brewers. I have agree with the general consensus on this one and say that, provided your...

    What Are You Brewing III

Cracked open the first bottle of the Weizguys RE Weizen recipe tonight :chug: with Neil's Centenarillo to be brewed on Tuesday night

    That's Not Gone Well Then

Had a similar experience on my first brew for the year, managed to melt the spoon to the hotplate on the stove, saw the malt boil over the top of the pot and forgot about taking an OG reading until about 4 hours after pitching the yeast. That being said, all taste tests during the ferment were...

    Woolworths Canning The Cans?

Most of the K-Marts in SA seem to have followed Coles and got rid of all their homebrew gear. Some of the bigger Foodlands in SA have a decent range, buts it a bit hit & miss with the smaller ones

    Flip-top Lids Go Pop!

Talking to the guy at my local brewcraft, they're recommending either bulk prime or dextrose priming only with their glass bottles as carb drops can be a bit unpredictable. Not sure how accurate this is, but not really keen on taking the chance and losing a few bottles or worse.

    Dry Enzyme

+1 to what enuun said, just started drinking a batch of alleged corona clone from a brewcraft kit which came with the dry enzyme & the taste is very thin with only a hint of the malt in the background. Not an overly bad final result, still drinkable just feels like a waste of time and effort...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Hi Ian, first off, this spreadsheet is amazing and has been a big help in planning out some future brews. I seem to have a similar issue with mismatch errors being generated when using the 'make recipe' button. Running in debug mode everything runs well until the spreadsheet has to start...

    Brew Beers Resolution '11

    * Move away from kits to extract brewing * Get a fermenting fridge No doubt that achieving points 1 & 2 will lead to many more aims for the year
