    Belgiun Beer Cafe Adelaide

If you like a wheat beer Titje is quite good. I had a Belgian Strong Golden Ale in a bottle last time I was there, which was pretty good, cant for the life of me remember what it was called though

    Kit Ginger Beer

I guess the first 2 points are really applicable to adding sugar in general. Both dex and table sugar will lighten and thin the beer, so your points are valid. I'm not sure if you are 100% correct about the fermentability, but I see I am incorrect about the higher ABV - both dex and table...

    Kit Ginger Beer

the differences between table sugar and dextrose are well documented. - less body - produces a lighter colour - longer ferment/chance of stuck ferment (unless you invert the sugars yourself) - results in higher ABV than dex - can give a cidery taste when used in large amounts (debatable but the...

    Kit Ginger Beer

dextrose inst table sugar if that is what you mean? white sugar, or table sugar is sucrose (dextrose and fructose) its often labelled as brewing sugar in the brewing section of the supermarket. I'd definitely be using dex over table sugar. as for the recipe, it looks fine. I only fill the...

    Kit Ginger Beer

x2 on this recipe, in my keg atm and it tastes damn fine. I used 600g of ginger, 1 fresh chilli and maybe 5 dried chilli's in 21L - certainly get the bight from the chilli, but its not overpowering.

    14 Degrees!

No need to resort to name calling just because I disagree with you mate. I draw a comparison to another alcoholic beverage and how serving temperature is considered quite important (as it is with a lot of beer enthusiasts too) and you use that as a an oppurtunity to attack me? Nice. Anyone...

    14 Degrees!

LOL - I think you will be fine storing beer at 8C......or cellaring temps (14C) for that matter for extended periods. I have NO mold in my fridge and I rarely clean it, but when I do it gets nuked. I think you were on the right track having your fridge at 8ish degrees - its a shame you feel...

    14 Degrees!

Yes, hence the 'IMHO'.....though I think its pretty widely accepted that beer @ 4C strips out a lot of the flavour.....just like the serving temps for wine are widely accepted to maximise flavour by anyone in the wine industry. If people dont want to taste the full spectrum of flavour in their...

    Can Cooler (or Something Similar)

Brewing Saisons are all well and good if you like sour beer.....if not, then its not really an option. Another cheap option if you dont have a laundry sink is to simply buy a large plastic bin from bunnings, fill with water and frozen 3L Juice bottles

    14 Degrees!

4 degrees is far too cold to drink anything but megaswill IMHO - 8 degrees you really notice the hop and malt flavours a lot more....too cold kills flavours. Its the same with wine - 16 degress for red, around 10 degrees for a good white or champers and below 10 for cheap white, like sav blanc...

Spent Grain What To Do With It ?

As enthralling as it was to read post after post about chooks and compost......does anyone make bread out of it? I watched that cooking show on ABC, Poh's Kitchen, where she visited a Brewery (possibly Bright Brewery, cant remember) and then took the spent grain to someone who made bread out of...

    Sanitisers And Their Dilution Ratios

A group of guys from Brew Adelaide simply went and bought 30L of Food Grade Phosphoric Acid and split it amongst us. The cost was something like $5 for 500ml. Considering you only need 1ml per Litre and it can be re-used it will last me an eternity. I just make up a 20L batch using 20ml and...
