    Putting Beer In Wine Bags

I wouldn't fill the goon bag up as much as you can because of the pressure as the co2 leaving the beer through aggitation might cause the bag to explode. At a pure guess 75% should be enough. Just keep an eye on it and if it swells, have a glass. It is going to be flat though so if you have...

    Setting Up A Fermentor Fridge

Another idea would be to insulate it to all bugery so no cold gets In the warm compartment. Then install an adjustable vent between the compartments. The calibration won't work with varying ambient temps, so being able to easily adjust the insulation with a vent will be much easier.

    Wires Through Fridge

Anyone know why the sensor wire needs to be in a different hole to the power? I would have thought the insulation should stop any interference running between the chords.I've got my sensor and power coming out the same hole of my box. Does this need to be fixed?

    Wires Through Fridge

I run mine between the door and fridge, saves the risk of hitting something and still seals very tight. Depends on your fridge as well. Make and model would help, but your best off calling the company. I wanted to drill in a new LG fridge and they were quite helpful, I ended up going through the...

    Setting Up A Fermentor Fridge

This depends on the ambiant temp. If your at a temp where both ales and lagers need cooling then my thoughts would be play around with the cooler section first, and then calibrate the warmer section to maintain a 10c difference, without warming, to avoid the whole fridge fighting with itself...

Can Someone Point Me To A Good Topic On Building A Fermenting Fridge?

I guess your draw back is you can only have one temperature for multiple batches. It means you have to brew with the same yeast and it will make adjusting temperatures for lagering fairly difficult, unless you have a full freezer lagering at the same time.

Can Someone Point Me To A Good Topic On Building A Fermenting Fridge?

Step 1. Find a cheap/free fridge that still semiworks. Step 2. Buy temperature controler Step 3. See many many posts on building temperature controller Step 4. Plug fridge into temp controller. There's no need to modify the fridge in any way, unless you need to make space. The temp controller...

A starch test after a mash will also tell u if the enzymes are working properly.

    Grain Storage

My friend had rat problems and they chewed right through strong plastic bins. If a rat finds out it's there your buggered. Aliminum trash cans work if rats could be a problem.

    Stc 1000 Temp Controller

Qldkev, Yeah you could wrap the globe in tinfoil. Wont trap the heat or catch fire but blocks the light nicely. Also u can get ceramic globes that only make heat but I'd say you'd struggle to find one that fits a fridge socket. Mind u don't forget to disable the off button when the door closes...

Sourcing Brew Gear On Hard Rubbish Day Is Theft?

I once put a pretty good couch out. Within hours all the big cushions were gone, but couch remained. Very annoying because the couch frame stayed for a week. If it stayed together it would have been gone overnight.

Yeast Expert Advice- Agar Slope And Other Points

No shit chucked :) I knew this stuff would be around, but I find this is sometimes a rather difficult forum to search and find useful stuff (especially when I'm calling them slopes instead of slants). And this forum isn't as anal about revisiting old material as other forums I've been too...

Yeast Expert Advice- Agar Slope And Other Points

There's a phd student up the hallway who's studying biofuel production. I've just picked his brains with regard to yeast techniques. He's suggested a couple of things to try. His going to get me some agar slopes. These are disks of Jelly that allow the yeast to consume and grow over the whole...

    Bench Capper

If its a lever you'll probably break the lever before breaking the bottle. It sort of has two stop points when you pull the lever. Don't be tricked by the first point. Go right the way down till it wont go any further. When capped properly it should look like a propper beer with no splayed...
