    in my experience with wyeasts, a good rule is half a day for every month old the packet is, so maybe just hang tight.

    Hi Guys, I have a couple 25kg bags of unmilled malt (munich and ale). I bought them about 6 months ago. Homebrewing went on a bit of a hiatus for a while. I was just wondering if i have much time left to use them, or should I have used them already? Thanks.

    sorry for derailing this thread but? what is up with this yeast? it swells for no reason, smacked or not which can make it a bit tricky to find the thing to smack. I dont think any other wyeasts do this.

    for wyeast swelling: check the date it was made. general rule of thumb AFAIK is 12 hours for every month since it was made.
