    Survey: Kegs From U.s.

Ordered 4 x 5 gallon reconditioned ball lock kegs from Brewers Discount on April 22. USPS paperwork (despatch date) was April 29. Arrived June 28 (9-10 weeks delivery). The customer service from Terry was fine for me. Note - other than the money coming out of my account there were no...

    Hot Water Urn

Thanks Plastic Man, For the record I also received this information direct from JOMACK: Cheers Fish **************** We recommend citric acid (from the spice department at the supermarket) to clean the inside of the urns. You may need to use half the container for that size urn. Boil it up...

    Hot Water Urn

I've just purchased a secondhand 36 litre JOMACK Hot Water Urn which I plan to use as my HLT. Being secondhand it is a bit dirty and I need to calibrate the temperature dial, as such I have a couple of quick questions if people can help: 1. Cleaning: I boiled some water in it last night and...

    New Micro In Red Hill?

Had lunch there over the long weekend. 3 beers available (Pale Ale, Wheat and Scotch Ale) - all very nice, althought the Scotch Ale not really to my taste. Very well setup with good chance to view the brewery itself. My only negative comment being the food was pricey - however in that part of...

    Hops In Bag V's Loose

I have just dry hopped two APA's with 25g Cascade pellets. One I threw the pellets in loose after racking to secondary the other I put the pellets in a piece of stocking, placed this at the bottom of the secondary and racked the beer on top of this. The loose pellets option produced a...

    Steam & Wheat Beer Recipes

Sorry Snow, Couple of quick questions: 1. Never used Gypsum when brewing - do you get it from the HBS. Any major drama if I didn't add it? 2. How much sparge water did you use? 3. Does Irish Moss go off? I've got a bottle I haven't used for a few years. Thanks again. Fish

    Brew Sculpture

I'm quite partial to all my extremities so I will give it a miss. We have some odds and ends in the Dexion type shelving here at work - I'll use some of that I think. Thanks for the advise. Fish

    Brew Sculpture

Slightly different slant on this idea. My neigbours brick garage forms part of our fence line. Has anyone mounted brackets onto a brick wall to act like a brew tree? I figure dynabolting these on would make them nice and strong. Drilling and dynabolts I can deal with, welding on the other...

    Dry-hopping

Very helpful info. re. dry hopping. I just threw my hop pellets in the secondary and now have a lot in suspension (I will do it differently next time). Apart from the filter (mentioned on page one of the post) is there an easy way to drop the hops out of suspension? Does Gelatin work? Fish

    Eski Size

What is the ideal sized eski (in litres) to use as a mash/lauter tun when wanting to get the most out of a 50litre HLT and boiler setup? I've got a 25L easki I used to do a small all-grain batch, however I don't think it will be big enough in the long run. Cheers Fish

Wyeast 1056 - American Pale Ale

Hi all, My 2 litre Wyeast 1056 - American Pale Ale starter should be ready by the weekend however I can't get the ESB wort kit I wanted to use it with in time. Has anyone had any success with this yeast and any kits? Happy to add hops, extract, etc... although need to keep the process pretty...

    Oxy Torch

Re. cutting a hole in the top of a keg. From what I've read in previous posts the general consensus is metal cutting discs. Any problems with using an oxy torch? A mate has one and suggested he'd do it for me, however I don't want to end up butchering my soon to be mash tun. Fish

Guy Selling Homebrew In The Mx Today

Sorry lads but you are misinformed. Attached is the article in question. Any Melbourne based people should get on board and help a bloke who is having a crack and supporting the home brew industry. I have to divulge that Luke is the cousin of a good mate of mine. Fish
