    Weird krausen

Let us know how it turns out mate, my LHBS had them on sale a few months back too & I got the Lord Finster Dark Best Bitter kit. It turned out well with a slight liquorice undertone. It had Target & Summit hops - does this sound normal? Could have been the malt though too.

    How was your brew weekend?

Hey mate, I am drinking an IPA right now with a very similar recipe, just less hops (Motueka). If you have anymore Citra and/or Chinook dry hop with those for some added aroma. Otherwise 100g of hops is heaps, for me anyway.

    Citra Vs Centennial & Chinook

Great to see some fellow Queenslanders helping me out in this thread :) I was up in Townsville 3 weeks ago, I travel up there at least once a year to hang with some relatives and watch the Cowboys play. But what is with the Townsville Brewery closing at 11pm on a Saturday night? Honestly...

    Citra Vs Centennial & Chinook

I do have some Cascade but that's going in a Pacific Ale extract tomorrow night. I was thinking about doing a lawn mower wheat beer with Nelson come summer time so thanks for the encouraging suggestion

    Citra Vs Centennial & Chinook

After I posted this topic I was looking at some of the US brewing forums and they seemed to think a Citra, Centennial & Chinook IPA was a winning combination. The only reason I didn't think about removing the NS is because I've wanted to try it for a little while. Perhaps I'll keep my Nelson...

    Citra Vs Centennial & Chinook

Hey Everyone, Just a quick newb question here. I am thinking about doing a Black IPA using a fresh wort kit plus some extra hops as follows: 20g Centennial @ 25 min 20g Nelson Sauvin @ 25 min 20g Chinook @ 5 min 10g Chinook, 10g Centennial, 10g Nelson Hops - 5 min steep. 30g Centennial dry...

    Improve my stout.

Instead of dextrose/dry malt have you tried using a liquid extract? Coopers & Morgans both do a dark liquid extract (1.5kg) which would complement your stout. Add a box of Brew Enhancer 1 if you like them a bit stronger. Just add some extra yeast.

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Just put down my first toucan, the Coopers SMOTY Ale. 1.7kg Aus Pale Ale 1.7kg Dark Ale 10g EK Goldings (15min simmer) 20g EK Goldings (30 min steep) 100g Crystal 100g Chocolate Malt Kit yeast x 2 23lt OG=1045 The original recipe doesn't call for any grain but I couldn't help myself. Has...

    Coopers pale ale can hops

The Fruit Salad Ale is a ripper however you may need to heat your fermenter at this time of year to get up to 24 degrees as recommended. Either way, Coopers tins & Cascade go together like cheese & crackers. You'll even get a kick from a 30g dry hop on day 3.

    Sparkling ale recipe

I did a brew last month using the sparkling ale can and recommend you make it a higher gravity brew as per indica's link. Mine was about 4% and turned out very sweet to begin with. Took a month in the bottle for the sweetness to lose its edge. Otherwise, Coopers recipe of the month right now...

    Haha well played mate.

    First drinkable brew.

Keep on drinking mate, just make sure you brew enough to keep up. Only take the lid off for as long as it needs to be off and you'll be right. Get the missus to hold it why you add the extras in.

    Big W greed

Dan Murphy's sell Coopers tins cheaper than Big W (in SE Qld anyway) but from memory they only sell the original series.

A question about a Coopers Dark Ale recipe....

Looks like a good beer mate, great head. I made an Amber Ale last month with Cascade and it was a great balance between malt & citrus. I'm going to brew a Coopers SMOTY toucan this month; Pale Ale tin Dark Ale tin EK Goldings. Can't wait. Enjoy!

Citra would be perfect! Good luck, let us know the end results. I plan on doing my first extract next month with a heap of left over hops too ;)

    Real Ale Bitterness Questions

If you want an Amber Ale with good malt character & citrus hops this recipe is a real winner: Coopers Parity Amber Ale 1.7kg tin of TC Traditional Draught 1.5kg tin of Coopers Amber Malt Extract. 15g of American Ale Yeast 30g of Cascade hops (dry hop day 3) 21lt brew Approx 5% ABV. I made a...

Well I opened my first solo brew!

Good to see another happy home brewer. I know with basic tins & dextrose brews you often get a really dry aftertaste with the beer but since I started adding fresh hops & grain plus quality sugars this has disappeared. It isn't a soapy taste though. I'm no expert but I would have 16 degrees...
