I thought this might be of interest to some of you people that can your homebrew.
This machine is called a "necker".
It takes a can with straight walls and puts a neck, a flange, a reform bead around the dome, and checks each one for any holes at the modest speed of around 1850 cans per minute.
An American friend done this with one for when blokes go for a piss behind his shed at his BBQS.
The pipe underneath goes down 2' into the ground into a 20L bucket with holes drilled in it full of rocks.
My perspective.
I make beer cans for a living and have done so for 20 years.
A few of the craft breweries are still going as strong as ever.
The majority have dropped off a little bit, but are still going.
Some have dropped right off, but I haven't heard of any of our customers going under...
I have the Navigator and it is a great unit.
I also have the Pitboss series 3 vertical smoker, but that doesn't seem to get used much since the navigator because it does all the vertical does and more.
I have 3 Webers, 2 pellet smokers, and I gave my stick burner away because it no longer was used.
For the record, the Pitboss 820 (now an old model) and the Pitboss Navigator 850 both can sear over flame.
When I am dead and buried, I hope they sell my guns, fishing gear, and brewery equipment for what they are worth.
Not for what I told the mrs I paid for them.
