Help me understand this "barley wine" recipe

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll just roll with it and see what comes out of the lauter tun. Maybe adjust the sugar addition, or the final volume depending on what I get. I actually plan on scaling this down to a 13 L batch, which brings things down to 5.5 kg of grain (the capacity of my preferred mash...

Help me understand this "barley wine" recipe

I've decided to start an annual tradition of brewing a high-gravity beer each year at Easter. For the first batch I picked out what I though was a simple recipe from the Classic Beer Styles: Barley Wine book. I'm all set to brew tomorrow, but looking at the recipe in detail I see some things...

    Fs Four Ball-lock Kegs

Looks like they're all accounted for then! Stux, barls, just let me know when you want to pick them up. I'm generally around before 8am, after about 6:30 pm (but that's flexible if needed) and most of the weekend.

Squat 23 And 12 Litre Kegs

I have one of the 12L versions. I haven't applied any direct CO2 pressure to it yet, but it does have a naturally-carbonated witbier in it and nothing's happened yet. I'll be keeping a close eye on it from now on (well, not too close!).
