I had some of this at The Local Taphouse on Saturday and liked it a lot. Malty and a relief from all the crazy hopped Pale Ales on.

If people are still looking for bottles of this in Sydney, it's in the Cellarbrations on Pacific Highway in Crows Nest. $19.99 for six, which seemed a bit steep for something that wasn't so dissimilar to Kent Old. :ph34r:

I put my head in there. They serve beer in ponys! I didn't realise you could still get those - not seen one in Sydney yet.

Just back from Melbourne on business and managed to get to Mrs Parma's and Beer Deluxe. Both highly recommended. The Temple Special Bitter in Mrs Parma's really hit the spot, good choice there too and the food was filling. Service very friendly. Beer Deluxe a but more impersonal but the Temple...

No no no no no. Ireland yes, UK no. It may be on in every pub but it's by no means the UK's national beer. Bitter tends to be regional, but something like Carling (lager) is probably the closest you'll get to a national beer. Lager tend to be national, bitter (and/or "real ale") local.
