Interesting question - does anyone refill gas cylinders sourced from overseas?
Such as new ones with overseas approval - do they need to be tested locally before anyone will refill them?
Noted the issue re. testing; I would agree that a in-test cylinder is a safe cylinder.
As for ownership, it's more about having the right to have the bottle; as such I believe that a bond was paid for the cylinder and I can verify to anyone my mate "Still owns a pub" - it's just that it's his...
Thanks for that - still after a location in Melbourne that will refill a cylinder (home brew shop), as I notice the website supplied only does swaps in Melbourne.
Gday - long time between brews!
Anyway mate of mine has just purhcased a kegerator to siphon off his home brew, however I has some co2 bottles that I need refilled (from a closed pub a mate used to own).
I have heard the old stories about having to hire cylinders - $200 p/a!! But is there...
Read your website Agro - same as mine (except for 100grms white sugar on top of coopers brew sugar, I rehydrated the yeast and got a heap of froth during the first 4 days in primary). It has cleared up considerably during days 7 to 10 (inverted carboy).
Can't be stuffed taking an SQ -...
Ok I'm into day 7 of a cheap Brigalow cider batch. Rehydrated the yeast with the nutrients and used 1kg brewing sugar + 100 grams white sugar (as an experiment).
Bubbled like all hell for the first 5 days - slowed down a lot last two days. Constant temp of around 22 degrees.
The (very...
I just did a cheap Brigalow cider batch - used Coopers brew sugar plus 100 grams white sugar (just as a test).
I also rehydrated the yeast and nutrient packet for 20 mins in cooled boiled water.
Lets see what happens...... lots of air space in the 23 carboy as the kit only makes 18 liters.
Left it in the fermenter 7 days past FG stabilisation - guess what - tastes great even out of primary!
No more bottling after 5 to 7 days for me!
PS. I'm now hooked on hops......
I few mates actually drop by a fridge repair guy and ask him (they swing him $10 for the advice) after picking up the fridge!
Apparently some fridge repairers are also commonly requested to fit beer taps and higher temp thermostats as well - if not sell you a 2nd hand fridge setup the way you want.
PS. there is nothing like a stupid question..... I held off asking a brew shop a "stupid question" such as "should I use hops in a kit brew" and my first hopped brew it tasting great even pre secondary!
