    Upping The Volume To 150l

Good work i like the enthusiasm. I have recently upgraded from the normal 20 litre batches for a corny keg to 100 litre batches. I'm doing this in partnership with my neighbour so that we can spend one morning (4-5hours) and end up with one 50 litre keg each. The theory about just multiplying...

    First Ag Round The Corner

will add my 2c worth and thats about all its worth, my fellow brewer was always not on the numbers and after taking my hydrometer over to his place found that his was always reading about 4-6 points out from mine, so put both into water and mine was on the money at 1.000 but his was reading...

Wort Started Fermenting In Cube ?

Hi, Last week i brewed 2 batches of Coopers Sparkling Ale clone, the first batch of 23 litres was a bit light on in the Alc % with an OG of 1.036 so for the next run I upped the grain bill from 4.5kg to 7.2kg and got this batch out at 1.052(its BIAB), both then went into cubes for no chill...

    Hop Flavour And Aroma?

Are you chilling or no-chilling ? This can make a difference as well, the convention is if you are no-chilling then you will lose effectiveness from your late addition hops i have read from other discussions here. Hutcho

    Sourcing Large S/steel Pots

Hi, Was wondering if anyone knows of a good supplier for stainless steel pots ? I'm currently investigating with my neighbour the ability to do double batches in the one day so that we can both end up with a 50litre keg at the end. So am thinking we need to get hold of 2 140 litre pots one...

    Biab - Question

A bucket to put your grain bag in once you are done with it, maybe some strong gloves so you can squeeze the bag and not burn your hands. I hoist my bag out onto a hook and give a good wring/squeeze out then put it into a large pot and run some sparge water in there and give it a good stir...

    Whirlpool Question

Thanks for your replies, had a brew day yesterday and gave the hot break time to settle and then stirred, once it had finished it was not moving anymore and when i drained into the cube most of the trub was left on the bottom. All went well except the Birko decided it didn't want to keep a...

    Whirlpool Question

Hi, I have a question as to the timings etc of when to whirpool my wort in my Birko urn. I do BIAB brewing, hoist the bag etc boil the wort add the whirlfloc 5 mins before end and then turn off the urn. You then notice the water is still moving/churning away obviously due to the heat etc i...

    Worst Brewing Disaster. Ever!

Disaster averted !!! Was only reading here the other day and can't remember who wrote it but a big "thankyou" for suggesting putting something under you bag after you have hoisted it out of the kettle. Yesterday hoisted bag and let drip then remembered, so cleaned up an old fridge shelf and put...

    Recipe Required ?

Just reporting back and the Porter actually turned out real tasty and has had a few good reports from those that have tried it, you can really taste the Roasted Barley in it i reckon. Its a bit light on the alcohol (yes could have done with more malt) but is fine as you can drink more and it...

    Recipe Required ?

Only topped up to about 21 litres, enough for a keg and a couple long necks, so being even less of a batch it should have been higher I suspect, have i brewed a light porter ?
