The inlaws live on the mountain and have kilo's of the stuff. I gave it a thought but the then thought not.

We have a proverbial shitload of Bunyah nuts. Wouldn't mind using them in cooking - quiches, cakes, etc - but not brewing. Not worth it.

After boiling them in salty water then roasting to give them some flavour, then dicing them up to get some actual extract, they'll have a fair oil content which would be a head killer. After all that, you'll get a slight nutty flavour which could be gained from a half dozen malted grains that would be much easier. good to think outside the square, but some projects aren't necessarily loaded with good outcomes.

I pitched two packs into a 1.060 wort. Didn't even bother re-hydrating. Took off withing 12 hours. The pitching rate is correct, you really need 2 packs. Kinda defeats the point.

I suppose my comment "defeats the point" was more in relation to it being an alternative to Us-05.

Cost being the main factor. Might as well go liquid otherwise.

thoughts on building a starter if 2-3 packs are required?

I don't see how you could add it to the fermenter without infection.
