    Hop Help Needed

Gday All. I have had a pretty long break from brewing, around 2 years.....idiot i know. I am getting back into it after finally finishing some reno's and being unchained by the wife. I found a stash of hops buried in the freezer and was hoping to use them up before I restock. So a few...

    Lager

Hi guys. Has been about 6 weeks since I brewed a 40 odd ltr batch. I split it and used an ale yeast (us-05) on half and a lager yeast (brew cellar european lager yeast) on the other half. The ale was great....unfortunately gone. (Isn't it funny how many mates you have when the keg is full)...

    Lager Yeast

I recently made a double batch using 8 parts pilsener to 1 part caramunich. I split the batch and used us-05 for half and a packet of Brew Cellar European Lager yeast for the other. The us-05 is fermenting at 18c and the lager yeast at 12c. Not having much experience with lager yeast (only...

    Finnings Into Chilling Fermenter

Have just finished fermenting my latest AG ( a slight variation of Tony's LCBA clone) and have just put it into the keg fridge to try and clear the beer up a bit and also to pre chill before going into the keg. Just prior to putting it into the fridge I added a satchet of finnings. My question...

    RecipeDB - Geoff's Premium lager

Intend to use a 350L fridge as the fermenting fridge once we buy a new one. Already have the keg fridge going but obviously having magnificent cold beer on tap takes precedent at the moment :icon_drool2: Maybe lager yeasts will have to wait for the fridge/fridgemate. Any other Ale yeasts...

    RecipeDB - Geoff's Premium lager

Looking to make this for a house warming soon and was looking for thoughts on an alternative yeast to use as I haven't gotten around to buying a fridgemate to control fermentation temps. Wondering if anyone knows of a good alternative that can handle the slightly higher temps. Anything other...

    Software Poll

Qbrew for me. Being a Mac user and a tight ass (it's free) made it an easy choice. Of the Mac native apps I found Beer Tools to be excellent and if I decide to buy a program that will be the one. Might just wait for the aussie dollar to make a bit of a comeback first.

    Clean Brewers 2nd Ag Today.....

Just tatsed ross' summer ale out of the keg myself and have some mixed feelings on it. Nice enough flavour and aroma but not sure that I am much of a fan of the Nelson Sauvin hops. It's bittering properties leave a bit to be desired in my opinion and may do better as a smaller addition along...

    Hop Clearout Recipe

I like the sound of that Nottingham yeast as I wanted to try something without US-05 for a change. I have a spare fridge that fits my fermenter in but as I said no Fridgemate as of yet. Is it advisable to use a lager yeast and ferment the batch in the fridge if I can get a rough idea of the...

    Ag Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale

Thanks for the replies. Decided to just leave it be and enjoy as is. Anyone have any ideas on carbonation levels for this style of beer and what pressures to carbonate with if I use the set and leave method of keg gassing?

    Ag Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale

Quick replies on this site!...and varied advice too. lol. Do you think it will lighten the body to much considering I would be adding nearly 17% of the volume in additional water?

    Ag Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale

Mashed at around 63-64C. This was intentional as I wanted to lighten the body to make it a bit more of a session beer. Looks like if it is a session beer could be a rowdy session.
