Quick and cheep.
2nd hand chest freezer for under $150 ebay etc
24hr timer (run freezer for 10min, off for 30)
Change out of 150! even under 100 if your luckey. just need to trial settings to keep temp at what your chasing, seasonally adjusted. This is what I use for chilling the finished...
Largers require the extra time at the low temps. For largers I ferment for 4 weeks @10-12deg, cube for 4 weeks, keg+carb and site for 1-2weeks for best results.
All this to be drank in 1-2 weeks?? sometimes not quite worth the time so the quickie to keep the kegs full is coopers pale, BE2...
Whilst I feel the same way about these sick-o's, early last week a CFA member from Clombinane was charged and refused bail for lighting fires in this area. I don't know the outcome but I presume he was behind bars when this fire happened.
As sad as it is the fire that went through kinglake...

I had a brew that would have sat dormant for nearly 10 days due to me being away and busy and it came out fine. Don't rush it, with largers I would not even think about kegging before 14 days (or 30 days if at...
+ 1 for fridge mate the only way to go.....
but I use a $10 timer to turn my chest freezer on/off for keg chilling, with a bit of playing you could potentially do the same if a cheeper option is what you are after
I have the same setup but outdoors. I have the same 2c for the same result for a really good beer. On hot days where the freezer/taps can get some sun i target 0-1c to minimize waste but can freeze the lines trying!
I have my setup outside and can get direct sunlight late afternoon at the moment so I have 10 times more trouble then anyone inside.
These are a few of the things I have done to limit wasted beer
1/ Keep Glass as cold as possible.
2/ Poor off 1/4 glass and tip out wait a few secs and try...
