I think it looks great, RR. The grain bill is excellent IMO. But if you want it to be an inoffensive party ale, I'd drop the final additions back just a touch so that it doesn't shock the swill drinkers. The other thing you could do is use a bit of Amarillo along with the Cascade. They make a good combination. (Though sticking with Cascade will be fine.) If you want to use a round 90g ;) you could also use some hops as First Wort Hops to leave it fairly smooth.

1.051 might be a bit much for a inoffensive ale, it will be nice but maybe a couple of points lower like 1.045 might be better, some cane sugar wouldn't go astray either, up to about 15% of the grainbill. As stuster said keep the late addition below 1g/L to make it nice and easy to drink. Grainbill looks good and no problem with the hops. I recently did one that was bittered with cascade and aroma from B Saaz and it turned out pretty good too. Anything herbal/citrus will go well, hell even Hallertau would go fine late in that sort of beer.

Sorry to slightly highjack this thread ... but what would be a suitable K&K reciepe for the "average" drinker?

I would drop the ibu's back a little to more like 20 - 22 and no offence to Stuster stay away from the amarillo for this beer as they can a dominant hop. I would probably knock back the Munich a little too, make the wheat 10% of the grist and adjust the munich accordingly. I only say this as you want to make a UPA.

Good luck!

No offence taken MO. Just interesting. I've had good reviews by non-brewers (or non-beer-geeks - people who've got good taste buds but never really got into beer) of beers I've made with all Amarillo (and in combo with Cascade).

Thanks for all the posative feedback guys, i've taken everything onboard and adjusted the recipe accordingly:

Lowered Final Additions as suggested by Stuster
1045 as suggested by DJR (i'll have a think about the sugar might be the go)
Lowered Munich / 10% wheat / 22 Ibu's as suggested by Mercs Own

Hey Guys,

just an update, well i end up brewing the first recipe i posted as is except i used FWH instead of 60 Minute additions, used less Pilsner Malt to bring the OG down a little and chucked in some Amarillo along the way as well.

What can i say but even after only 1 week in the keg this beer is Outstanding, it is everything i could have wanted it to be :chug:
