Come spring (hurry up, its too cold!) I've got to split a hive of native stingless bees - Trigona carbonaria - and if there is sufficent honey stores I'll knock some off for use in a beer. The honey yield is pretty small (be lucky to get 100gm) but is very strongly flavoured so I was thinking of a honey porter or a honey amber?
To avoid reinventing the wheel, has anyone else tried this stuff in a recipe?

I used 1kg of clover honey in a Kolsch winkle, but it wasn't a heavy flavoured ale like your thinking of. I would think that a drop like porter would mask the honey, you would need a lot more than 100 gms for any effect.

You could be right - perhaps a blonde could be the way to go, but this stuff is very strongly flavoured compared to normal stuff. Its usually served on icecream as a topping and a little goes a long way.
