Howdy All

Seeing as the style of the week was posted as Robust Porter I thought I would check out what Daniels had to say about it in Desinging great Beers.

As I am sure most people are aware that Porter was oringianlly made by mixing Stale and Fresh Browns to make a Porter . Just wanted to know if anyone has actually tried this and what were the results , Not sure if I would try this myself but never say never I guess

Cheers

Never did exactly that but managed to save a Dark Belgian Strong Ale in a similar fashion. Basically the Belgian never tasted right and seemed way too alcoholic/warm and rummy to be enjoyable.

So I brewed an average strength Porter and blended it to the keg with around a quarter to a third of the keg being the shoddy Belgian (guesstimation) and the balance was the Porter. The resultant "Porter" cocktail from memory came out quite stunning.

Not something I'd set out to do by design but can be a good way to save an average beer. :)

Never thought of it like that Warren , but the idea of saving an avaerage brew is very clever I like that
