We've just sold our house here in Tas. and will be moving to Bendigo 2nd week in Jan.
I need to move my hop plants, any thoughts on the best method?

I'm thinking of just cutting them back, like you would at the end of the season, wrapping the rhizomes in damp paper and putting them into the fridge for a ~week to simulate an early winter.

I moved house on the weekend and had to take my plant with me (its part of the family now). Just dug it up and stuck it in a pot and covered with dirt...until I find a new spot. He didnt come out in one lump like Johhnos. Ended up with about 6 or 7 separate rhizomes. He was just starting to have sprout little flowers too :(
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for the replies.

Moving interstate makes it hard to just put them in a pot and go. They are just starting to put out flowers too. Oh well, they can only die and if they don't, all is good.

Are there any quarantine issues moving plants from tassie to the mainland?

Hi All,
As a grower of orchids I can tell you that the problem is the Other way round.
AQUIS inspect all my plants.
You can send plants from Tassie no problems.
