Just pondering something whilst racking my first Hefeweizen into a keg this afternoon with WB06. I was wondering if the yeast companies like wyeast, whitelabs, fermentis etc actually look at the worlds home brew forums to see what people are saying about their yeasts. Like, this WB06 tastes bloody beautiful and smells even better (bubblegum n cloves). Who do they use as for market research to see whats working or not? Do any of you guys have any contact with them and tell them whats the go with certain yeasts? Take K97 for example....is meant to be a wheat yeast (or sold as one) do they get told that its not what we homebrewers are looking for? So they take their notes and go off into their labs to come up with something like WB06. Know what I mean? Whats the go? How do they know what we want?
Cheers

It's worth remembering that these companies don't just sell to the homebrew market, but the commercial brewing market too. A lot of their feedback would come from both markets.

Didnt think of that  thanks

usually you'll find the yeast company website has a lot more relevant info than your typical local HBS attendee.
