Read Doctors are calling for drink driving limits to be reduced to 0.02 or even 0. Here we go again, punish the majority for the few idiot minorities. Besides further revenue raising why not just close wineries, pubs, restaurants etc and be so aware of driving the next day if you had a few the night before, you just might have 0.01 in your system. Cabs, public transport and non-drinking driver are not always the answer. But having a couple of drinks after work or while having a meal, you could be gone. The bureaucrats, "goodie 2 shoes" and governments answer to every problem is close it, fine it, tax it or restrict it, rather than actually getting to the root cause and solving the issue.
Cheers, off my chest now I think.

Sorry, should have put in "continuous rant thread'.

A tolerance of .02 will never work. To close to 0.00 and to many other variables for the average driver. Truck drivers are 0.00 buts that different, your a professional driver and ought to be physically healthy and fit (I said ought to be).

Also note there are way too many medications that will pop you over zero. I worked in a zero alcohol zero tolerance work place, but when signing on you were required to divulge any medications. This was also required when testing. Absolute zero just won't work. The effect on the hospitality industry would probably kill a fair number of smaller venues. There are wider implications, such as greater need for public transport, including extending services around the clock, and also security. I know Sydney couldn't handle that sort extra pressure on it's transport system. I doubt other major cities could either, especially with a reduction in revenue (excise, and roll on effect of business closures).

No worries, so long as they loosen the ratchet in other areas.
Raise the speed limit to 140 and permit full licence motorcyclists to overtake on double yellow lines.
