    Salami 101

i've made friends with our butcher, who makes his own stuff at home, so I am wanting to give some salami a go. With HWMBO working at jaycar, getting the elements to create a great salami/meat cupboard are at hand, so all going well I'll be giving some a go once we've got it made. I love that...

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

My brews been clear for a few weeks, but was really...carbonated and tasted like bad white wine. No fruit had dropped on tasting, but now the fruit is dropping slowly- had a cinnamon drop first, now an orange quarter. Its been down now for 8 weeks all up. Should I be doing anything I'm not...

I'm excited to get digging into this book some more now that I'm growing my own produce! I'm thrilled to have space at a community garden!

What's In Your Herb / Vege Garden?

Oh yeah, parsley! Lots of it, in three types! Flat leaf, curly and some other one. Also, there's chives and garlic chives. Looking to plant some garlic at some point, along with some oregano and basil, and some tomatoes. (My signature dish is lasagne...can you tell?) LOL @ city morgue2! Love it!

What's In Your Herb / Vege Garden?

Just inherited a garden, and it has a few lettuces, some carrots, fennel, artichoke (the spiky one), lemon balm, pepinos, some nigerian potatoes...probably a few things I'm missing there. I'm excited to get a pile of stuff growing- there's nothing like eating produce you've grown organically...

    Chilli! All Things Chillies.

I've just gotten about 40sq metres of space at a community garden, so I'm up for buying some seeds. I've got some chilli seeds here, I think they're birdseyes- they're really tiny and quite potent. But I've got a crapload of seeds, and for $2 I'll send some seeds to anyone not in WA (I'm...

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

Five weeks, and my mead is clear enough to read print through it nicely. No fruit dropping, but there's a nice white clag at the bottom yeasties graveyard. Gonna try it today (when its not 6.30am) and see if she's ready for bottling! If it is, its time to get some more on the go!

    Wtf Are Tram Scrolls?

So I'm with Dave on his praise for Nigella...I totally would shag her. I'm a foodie since I was a kid- I didn't get this fat eating salads!

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

Okay, so I only have Tandaco Dry yeast in my cupboard. It has 7g sachets in it. Do I use a 7g sachet, or do I just put 1 tspn of yeast in as per the recipe? I had a hunt, but couldn't find an answer elsewhere.

    Chilli! All Things Chillies.

My father in law has about a dozen chilli plants that have gone mental- all loaded with little red chilli's- think they're birdseyes from the size-fil wasn't home when we were there and saw them. Going to see if I can get some to make some chilli & garlic oil- it is ridiculously good for...

    Perth Cbd Pubs

Yeah you might be able to get little creatures anywhere, but sitting out the back with fresh poured drinks and some of their delicious nosh is one helluva way to kick back IMHO.

I paid $19.84 from Big W. I've not seen them anywhere else to compare. Though in past experiences its exactly what you said Merc- Kmart etc buy bigger numbers and can drop the price. It happens in all business I guess.

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

Wow- who knew sultanas vs raisins would cause such debate! I ended up caving, had a little extra shopping money this week, so bought a kg of raisins. Thats a little overkill of course, but I plan to make a few brews- got some friends who're interested too- and we'll eat the rest..might see if...

    Beer Cookbook

I got mine today! Hanging to try some of the recipes out. I love Nigella's Guinness Chocolate cake, so the stout brownies look scrumptious! There are *so* many of the recipes I can't wait to get making- this is a really good book. I love how you write like you're talking to friends around a...

Jao The Ultimate Beginners Mead Recipe

Lets try that again. As raisins are technically the same as sultanas- just different grapes- are sultanas suitable replacements for raisins? Just wondered coz the kidlet has sultanas in the cupboard for her lunches, and instead of buying a half kilo box of raisins to put down one batch of JAO...
