    Digital Hydrometer

I'm not hijacking your thread Nick but adding a relevant question, hope you don't mind. I too am interested in a tilt type digital hydromenter. I usually dry hop up to 250 grams using strong magnets. What effect to magnets in close proximity have on accuracy and signal strength?

    Maltodextrin substitute

You're probably right. I haven't used maltodextrin but will give it a go if necessary.

    Maltodextrin substitute

I'm about to try a new k&k recipe that calls for 200gm of maltodextrin. I've been warned off using maltodextrin due to odd chemical flavours so is there a good substitute? Steeped Cara Pils has been suggested. Does anyone agree & if so, how much should I add to 23 liters?

    Fridge penetration

That's a good idea, close to the hinge would allow the spaghetti to be kept tidy and out of the way. There must be no pipes or wires in the door.

    Fridge penetration

I've got a Fisher & Paykel E450 fermentation fridge and it does a great job as it takes two fermenters as well as other useful stuff. As I accumulate more useful gizmos I'm upsetting the door seal with too many tubes & cables which of course reduces the efficiency of the fridge. I'd like to...

    Pressure rated stainless fermenter.

Thanks for your feedback Kadmium. Locally made is important to me. SS is too for several reasons, one of which is that although I'll pay more I should never need to buy another.

    Pressure rated stainless fermenter.

Yes that's a good idea, where the barrel has some strength. We'll try to get a grip on the fermenter with a wet beach towel next time and if that doesn't work I'll be back to the workshop.

    Pressure rated stainless fermenter.

Aghh, shoulders. So many people are suffering in silence. I feel for you guys. My wife almost recovered from a rotator cuff tear in one shoulder then the other one froze. She's 12 months into that now. I had recovered from calcific tendonitis and bursitis in one shoulder and now I have a bunch...

    Pressure rated stainless fermenter.

Everyone has their problems. Mine is serious. I’ve been using old fashioned plastic fermenters without any problems and even successfully made use of the latest homebrew fad, pressure. Pressure is a useful tool, great things can be achieved with just one psi and I was pleasantly surprised the...
