    Hydrom Electronic Hydrometer

Good news is that as Esp32 should be able to load gravity Mon software which is a really good electronic hydrometer software. Brilliant support on that. I've migrated my ispindels onto this platform. How many brews it lasts for isn't that relevant more about time as a brew might be more than a...

    Maximum alcohol %

I've used the WLP 099 it's from the Yeast bay who seem to have stopped supplying homebrewers so it might be a little difficult to find. As mentioned, big starter, lots of oxygen and then reoxygenate after a couple of days. I partigyled a 1.041 beer off a barley wine and then pitched an imperial...

    BrewPiLess version update

I had fitted the oled 1306 and was using the diyhomebrewers software which gave some info on the screen rather than LCD. Having flashed the esp3266 and the ispindel firmwares 4.2x neither display anything except white lines. Very strange. Is there a different wiring arrangement for the oled display?

Had my first Ag brew today everything went awesome

Make your own it's a lot cheaper. I get the supplies from a chemical selling shop, does pool chemicals and cleaning agents etc. 65% sodium percarbonate, 30% sodium metasilicate and 5% EDTA https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/pbw-alternative.98456/ Links in the above thread as well to a...

    Gladfield Black Forest Rye

Seems harder to find than a crazy french referee down here. I'm keeping my eyes peeled though. I do not support NZMRT.

    Gladfield Black Forest Rye

Helpful advice I'll bear that in mind when I use it, or use it as an alternative in the recipe that wants crystal rye which is unavailable at the moment.

    GUTEN

@hidara I've got the SS plate but I can't get it to stick well on the body of the kettle as soon as it gets warm then it unsticks the tape. Yours looks good. I'll get one printed up. Adding a lip / eyebrow to the piece would stop any dribbles getting onto the box, currently I just have a piece...

    New to Brewing Cider

I have used monk fruit extract to back sweeten. Not a noticeable twang to it, which I find all of the other non fermentable sweeteners do have. I used to have some very dry cider and mixed that with some rekorderlig cider which was far too sweet to drink on it's own.

    Dry hopping - magnet

Before the sous vide magnet I used to vacuum seal the magnet ( ferrous only ) and use that inside the hop bag. The sous vide magnet is much more robust though.

    Gladfield Black Forest Rye

Black forrest Rye I was told was a bit like supernova malt but with a rye edge to it. Haven't used mine yet but I have a plan. Can't get any crystal rye at the moment so will have to sub in some normal crystal I suppose.

    Dry hopping - magnet

I use a fairly open mesh bag, cable tied shut. Magnet inside I use a sous vide magnet these are covered with food grade silicone on the outside. I just sanitise the magnet with starsan. Outside I use a magnet salvaged from a hard disk drive. Food shops/ kitchen supplies for sous vide or...

    Refilling sodastream cylinder issue

What a pain. Should be plain sailing with a refill.

    Refilling sodastream cylinder issue

Not sure about the kegland cylinders, some variation of type on the genuine sodastream cylinders in that the one with larger flat " button" in the top of it needs to be filled from a very slow start otherwise the valve paradoxically shuts off and you can't put gas in. You won't of course get gas...

    50ltr , or 19ltr Kegs

50 litre kegs useful for converting as boilers, but a right pain to use for domestic beer, with a bigger opening good as a kegmenter or a bigger opening as per @MHB post. https://aussiehomebrewer.com/threads/50l-keg-uses.102822/post-1566849

    Digital Hydrometer

Long time user of Ispindels. Don't rely on it to give you an accurate reading of the ferment gravity if A) Not recently calibrated B) any confounders in play. ie krausen sitting on the top of the floating digital hydrometer. Pressure fermenting will also skew the results. Dry hopping residue...

    GUTEN

@hopnotic Sorry couldn't reply yesterday , I was making an imperial stout with lots of adjuncts rye and wheat and the rye seemed to be the right size to block every hole in the bottom of the malt pipe. Don't normally have problems, but first time using rye. Think next time I'll crush it to much...

    Fridge penetration

THere is a thermal imaging app, but you need a phone with a thermal imaging lens. These are made by CAT model numbers S60, S61 and S62. I have the S62 and it will show up coolant lines in the side of fridges and freezers. The software ( app ) will not work without the correct hardware...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Thank you for this reply, as you'll see from my question I'm aware that the unit is different. Plug etc. My question is re the pump on the US brewzilla 65 are you able to answer that question, what is different other than the plug and perhaps volume markings. Circuit board still runs with 220V...
