FS Melb - Moving To London - Stuff For Sale!

Hi Guys, Alex here... now ex-Little Creatures. You may or may not have heard that I took a job in London with Camden Town Brewery (www.camdentownbrewery.com). Heading off shortly and finished up at LCB a couple of weeks ago. Have a few things we are trying to sell (bed, couch, microwave, 26"...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hi Aaron, No it isn't.... but what is there is "The Little Rabbit" which is the Belgian Golden Ale that we brewed for the GABS. I had to stop last week and have me one of those.... I like it. Not sure how much is left, but will probably be on for another week or so prior to the next Single...

Little Creature Pale Ale - Wet Hopped

Hi Guys, The guys in Tassie did a great job - picked the hops, shoveled them out of the kiln before drying, and packed them refrigerated and got them on a courier to Hobart Airport. Hops arrived early the next morning to an awaiting wort stream.... I guess this is the first time fresh hops...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

I can assure you all that the next single batch is not a tart strawberry cider or a cloudy Belgian Lager....

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hey, One thing I should mention about bitterness.... We have had a number of these single batch beers to which we have added a heap of hops - the Dipper, Dreadnought Stout, IPA (the first single batch from last year) and the Brown Ale.... and all a bitterness of around the 50 - 55IBU mark...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hi Guys, As usual... the debate continues! I quite enjoyed this one. We went for a very low mash temperature, and thus final gravity. My experience tells me - from both in the USA and Belgium - that when you start to arc up the alcohol content, that beers can be very cloying, heavy and...

    A Mutating Little Creature

Hi Guys, foles - the CO2 should only be around 4.8 - 5g/L, but the carbonation will depend a little bit upon the secondary conditioning. No doubt it'll change the next time you are there. Generally about the hops.... I should highlight - the use of Riwaka, Chinook, Stella, etc is done in...

    A Mutating Little Creature

Hey, I have done a bit of investigating.... this was in fact a little bit of a trial - was Pale Ale dry hopped with a bit of Stella from Tasmania. We are currently experiementing with that hop and are really liking it... Might become a permanent fixture in the hop blend one of these days...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hey, Did anyone get down to the brewery in Fremantle to try the sneak peek of the next one - "Dreadnought Foreign Extra Stout"? 7.4%, 60IBU, black as black.... The stuff that we had on yesterday was actually barrel fermented. I was there earlier this week and tasted the product out of the...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hey Guys, Once again, interesting view points. I've heard everything from "the best single batch yet" to "boring". So I guess this does it's job - gets people thinking and debating about beer. I only tasted it out of the maturation tank at the brewery, but am looking foward to trying the...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hi Guys, Always good to read the comments. And indeed we don't actually do any test batches for these. I guess technically speaking when we have the employee competitions (Oatmeal Stout, Special Bitter from a while back) that is sort of a test batch, but really we are looking for a concept...

    Little Creatures Next Single Batch

Hey Everyone, EKG ale was on the filter today. Unfortunately I had to hit the airport prior to tasting the filtered version. But did taste brilliant out of the fermenter - nice, balanced, hoppy, goodness.... all you would expect from and EPA. I'm pretty stoked. Funny - I actually had my nose...

    I'm Going To Belgium!

Hi, I was done typing my response and I lost it.... so I start again.... Spent about 8months in Belgium living in Brussels. One of my favourite bar/cafes was "Ultime Atome" (play on words "- ultimatum") in Ixelles - just a short taxi (or a couple of metro stops) from the centre of town...

Por Alpha Loss Over 12 Months

Hey, I don't think I would bother - you have no way of knowing how much the alpha has dropped over that time. I reckon roll with it..... I would be more worried about "cheesey" character potentially, given they have been in a bag with oxygen for a year. But you have stored them in a freezer...

    Lcpa Lost Its Edge?

Hi, OK, regarding bottling and kegging. We tanker all of the beer from Fremantle to our packaging site (about 5km away) where we bottle and keg everything. Our distributor is BevChain - they distribute beer, wine, etc for a number of customers (Lion Nathan, Diageo, Brown Brothers, and Little...

    Lcpa Lost Its Edge?

Hi Guys, Once again, some good provocative comments.... Regarding hopping rates - these are still basically the same as they have always been, except now we are adding even more late in the process. In the old days we primarily added bittering hops and then used the hop back. Currently we...

Difference In Hop Aroma For The Same Variety.

Hi, Just thought I would add some comments.... yes, indeed the same variety of hop can have vastly different aromas. I have been in Washington State selecting hops one several occasions and on these trips will often smell say 30 different lots of cascade (for example) with all lots smelling a...
