How to get started in Cider. The definitive(ish) guide to beginner&#39

An update as promised: So, in order to get my new grape crusher to handle apples I've been building a smoosher :D to replace the agitator bar. Here is what I have so far - a new 1" axel turned from aluminium, and then threaded for some 6mm 304 stainless steel rod. The plan is that I'll make...

How to get started in Cider. The definitive(ish) guide to beginner&#39

Thanks guys, I think I'll try to make up some sort of shredder to sit above the grinding wheels that will replace the agitator bar. I think this should chop the apples quite small then the grinding wheels will squish it some more. What do you think? See this apple crusher uses similar rollers...

How to get started in Cider. The definitive(ish) guide to beginner&#39

Hello everyone, its been a while! I've had a bit of good luck yesterday and scored a wine press and crusher for only $155 off ebay! Its quite a biggie as I plan to get more into making ciders. I've done several small batches but I'm keen to put down something more, and to be able to do some...

Fs: Large Pigeon Pair Fridge And Freezer

Hi all, I'm moving to an all in one fridge/freezer for the kitchen, so I'm looking to sell our Fisher and Paykel pigeon pair. Both Frost free! These are both great. They look great and modern, they're big, and they have no fixed internal shelves so they would make excellent kegerators or...

For Sale: Vintec Wine Cabinet - 40 Bottles

Hi everyone! I'm selling my beloved wine cabinet / fridge / cellar as we've remodelled our kitchen and no longer have space for it. Its a Vintec V40SG "2e" in almost new condition. It just has a few scuff marks on the side from moves but you have to look hard to see them. Works perfectly...

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

You say you're being patient.. how long have you waited? Its possible the fridge is in a frost-free stage and will come good if left for 20mins or so. Or you may have already waited this long in which case it sounds busted :(

    Brewstand Top?

I used a large 600x600 porcelain tile for the top of my brewstand. Very hard wearing, tolerates heat and super easy to clean. Looks great too. As I only needed one tile I got it as a free sample! :) But a few tiles would be cheap as!

    1st Brew With The Braumeister

Hey Gav, One quick note, I would be adding the steeped liquor from the dark grains with at least 10mins of boil left if not all of the boil to sanitise it all (the BM has loads of room for a big boil). I measure pre and post boil gravity and work out my efficiencies. I usually boil off around...

Speidels Braumeister. Impressive Yes. Expensive Yes.

Yeah I just check on it every so often. The only time I've had issues was when I put too much malt in the small malt pipe, and I could tell as soon as the pumps started that it couldn't really handle it. So if mashing starts fine I would be confident to leave it do its thing. :)

    The Ultimate Braumeister Brewstand

Thanks guys! :) Red Ghost, thank you for the kind offer. I think I've got it sorted now though.

    The Ultimate Braumeister Brewstand

Well I got to use my new stand today for the first time. It was awesome! Even though I was just doing a 22L batch and I probably could have lifted the maltpipe easy enough, the winch made it super easy and also allows me to leave it raised higher than the kettle for a quick sparge and can...

Three Sheets Pale, Well Kind Of?

I was talking to the head brewer at the Lord Nelson only 3 days ago. He mentioned he uses either Nottingham or US05 almost exclusively for all their brews (except for special seasonals) and has moved away from galaxy as he was getting harsh bitterness. I'm not sure how recent these changes...

Speidels Braumeister. Impressive Yes. Expensive Yes.

Seeing as this seems to be the main Braumeister thread I thought I should post this here so it can be added to the wealth of knowledge already collated. Here is my stand I built for my 50L BM. If you'd like to read more, check out this thread. Cheers, Dave.

    The Ultimate Braumeister Brewstand

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I can't wait to use the new stand on the next brew. Humulus - I've put this great stuff on the feet of the BM that I got from Clark Rubber (can't remember its name). Its some sort of plastic moulding made for bare metal edges. Its great, fits well and adds a...

    The Ultimate Braumeister Brewstand

Thanks Malted :) Levelling casters on two legs would be great, but expensive, and would certainly help with the mobility of the unit. The unit is a bit heavy, but I can lift it out to the patio in three trips (BM, table, crane). Lol, the beading on the corners is a result of my mitre saw not...
