I think MJ's comment was more along the lines of the vast majority of brewers who only have 15a (edit: oops meant 10 amp) circuits at home, particularly tenants. Now with my urn I have a 2400W element but if necessary - ramping up strike water in a hurry for example - I can toss in my 2200W OTS...

Hope there will be some on tap in April when I get down to the Grafton comp and see if that Stu guy is still around. Is there going to be a bottled version? Coopers are shithouse at brewing lagers, good to see a new ale in the fold.

Guess that's from Ellerslie? I used to buy a heap of hops from them in the old days but it looks like they only do commercial quantities of all stock nowadays.

WRT Fosters there's a story there. I remember the Fosters up to the 1980s - excellent hop and malt, more "premium" than a lot of the beers on tap and a wee bit upmarket. Then when Elders IXL not only bought CUB but also the UK Courage beer and pub empire, there was an opportunity to cash in on...

I'd guess BUL prices have to be kept artificially high so as not to cannibalise VB etc. This doesn't apply to the chains (LL, Liquorstax, Aldi etc) who import directly. Example, at the moment at Aldi: Carlton dry (CUB via Aldi) 12 pack $24.99 Storm Brewing Super dry (direct import via Aldi) 24...

Beers are a bit like curries. For example when making a dahl, most Westerners will throw every spice they can at it - and then some more. On the subcontinent they are likely to just use a small amount of panch phoran or even just some cumin, hit it with a bit of asafoetida and garlic sizzled...

Are you sure it's yeast? Was that "bests wheat" actually plain wheat or wheat malt? I've been served wheat beers in pubs that looked like that.
