    this is my theory on racking to a second container , i actually did it today , and the yeast at the bottom really stunck bad.i think u dont want decaying organisms (yeast) leaching their vital fluids into your brew. nuff said...

    ahh thanx for the help , btw it was a pilsner lager yeast wlp8oo. this is my second attempt with liquid yeast , my first attempt was really slow going , (not like a rehydrated yeast) so wasnt too sure if it worked :(

    i just opened up my vile off liquid yeast , so i could put it in a starter. i shook the vile up and when i opened it , it started fizzing like a shaken up beer. and it had a funny smell. does anyhone know what this is? is the yeast gone off?

    ahh im livin in sydney , i guess the tap water tastes good , but all this brew talk about sanatation!! makes u think about tap water, or is this germaphobia?

    yeah i brew lagers now cause its cold conditions. and i usually buy those big containers off spring water with a tap . they r good cause u can perch it above your fermentor (filled with wort) and turn the tap on and as the water cascades in it arerates it! well thats my method anyway..

    what r the benifets off racking beer to a second fermenter ?? i have never done this before. i read that u should also add about 100g off suger to the secondary when u rack it?!!

    my first 4 extract beers where coopers bitter. but i heard that u shouldnt use the packet off yeast under the tin!? why is this soo?
