    Best Keg fillers

Gezzanet you have given me a new favourite.. Only modifications I did was to ferment at 20 degrees ... Everyone tells me lower is better but it's a swiller after all. I also went overboard on the citra and put in 100 grams which I am not regretting.. Simple quick easy, tasty and smells great.

Are the hops just dry hopped on day 5 or so?

    Best Keg fillers

Do you notice a big difference with the small amounts of steeped grains? Really noticeable in the end product? I've never done it before..

    Best Keg fillers

When I got into home brew it was for the fun factor of having huge quantities of beer to hand at all times for when people come around. Also to keep it cheap. Whilst most people are looking for the up market craft beer taste, my criteria is different. I like to brew things that take about 15...

    New fathers day keezer

I know it's off topic slightly but it will be pumping kit and kilo mostly. Got all the taps for fathers day, spent the day putting it together. Pretty happy with where it finished up. 2 x intertap with springs, 100mm shanks, temp controller, handles and 4 way manifold.

    Unreal ale, dry hop

Well I am drinking this brew now, had some time in the bottle. It's pretty good, nice and malty. Would make it again but next time I will not use cascade, not horrible but just not the best pairing with the real. Ale . I think I'll try galaxy next..unless there are some better suggestions?

    Unreal ale, dry hop

Peter, for your information I found this article online. It's about the most simple and easy to understand guide I have found so far regarding dry hops. He suggested to start at about 45grams (1.5 ounces) https://byo.com/article/dry-hopping-for-great-aroma/ Also this one, which uses a much...

    Unreal ale, dry hop

Others wiser than me might be able to answer your question about how to use hops properly but for clarity, the only reason I am looking to use cascade is because I had some on hand. I have taken the base recepie from the coopers site and modified by using BE2 instead of be1 and the dry hop...

    Unreal ale, dry hop

Thanks for the responses. Where do you guys get your hops in larger quantities, I don't have a local home brew store. The one I do get to from time to time has only smaller morgans, mangrove Jacks type branded packets that cost a lot. Not sure where you'd go about buying half a kilo for example?

    Unreal ale, dry hop

Evening all, I have just put down a coopers real ale, kilo of BE2 and 500g dme with us-05 yeast. First time I've tried this brew with the extra malt, og was 1048. I was thinking of dry hopping as well. I have some cascade and citra laying around. I am planning to put in 50g of cascade for...

Second Ever Home Brew Batch - Some Questions

I have one of the same mangrove Jacks kit in the fermenter at the moment. For people who are into their mainstream commercial beers that one always ends up being the favourite. I usually have one of those on hand.

Second Ever Home Brew Batch - Some Questions

I had an old fridge in the shed, so I just got a mangrove Jacks temp controller which was about 60 bucks and taped the probe to the fermenter, covered with some Styrofoam.

Second Ever Home Brew Batch - Some Questions

Mate I don't have much more experience than you so I won't pretend to be an expert but will tell you that my brews got a hell of a lot better after ditching the kit yeast and using us05. Beyond that it was poper temp control and getting a decent stock up so I could leave it in the bottle...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

No, haven't tried it yet. I am pretty limited due to being a long way from nearest home brew store so kinda have to rely on woolies. I have brewed the coopers lager with brew enhancer 2 before and didn't really like it. May have been better if I added hops I suspect

    'battle Of The Toucans'

All is not lost, the coopers draught and homebrand lager combo was a fail but the coopers Aussie pale ale and homebrand lager toucan using us05 and dry hopped for 4 days with galaxy is a winner.

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Well the verdict is in, the coopers draught and homebrand lager toucan tastes horrible. It was an interesting experiment but the taste is unbearable. Luckily I have a mate who will drink anything, so this lot is all his. I have a coopers pale ale and home brand draught experiment to come also...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Just tasted my coopers draught and homebrand lager toucan from the fermenter. It's a bit cloudy for the amount of time I have let it sit but the taste is promising. Real test in two weeks after the bottles have carbed up. Next time I make it I'll be more liberal with the dry hop as its lacking...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Put a coopers draught and homebrand lager toucan down today, straight on top of the us05 yeast cake from a pale ale I kegged just before. Added about 30 grams of cascade pellets straight to the fermenter. Experient could end badly but I'll post in a few weeks and let you know how it turns out...
